Thoughts on Chevys reaper? IMO looks too much like a raptor. I'd like to see more though.

Name is terrible and the wheels. Change those out and your good. The new Chevy 6.2L will kill that raptor motor.

I don't think it looks anything like a Raptor, but it sure is ugly.

Doesn't even look close to a Raptor. Raptor owners will have numerous opportunities to view the front end in their rear view mirror. Chevy "Like a Rock" heavy and slow.

FWIW This isn't a real chevy. It's a silverado that's been tuned by lingenfelter and built by some body skit shop, SoUthern comfort automotive.
The Cheyenne has my attention if they build that.....

F'n horrible. Admittedly Lingenfelter builds some badass motors (especially the new 800 hp Camaro), but that is SO ugly. And I can assure you Rance that a full Hennessy VelociRaptor package (not just the factory Raptor) will smoke that Chevy all day long. And I don't even like Ford or Chevy....

It has a Ram grill molded to a chevy front clip. Seriously though, If i wanted any pre runner truck like that, the ram runner would kill both when actually used in the dirt. These hybrid street/ pre runner trucks are pretty pointless anyway. I would still take the dodge or ford one in a heartbeat though.

I wouldn't exactly call that an answer. If anything it will probably boost ford's sales. It's hideous.
GM imo should really re think their design team, they have been putting out some ****ty trucks lately.

This is NOT a Chevrolet produced vehicle, this is an after market screw on kit, and Robert T, stop being such a douche! That new GM 6.2 will blow the doors off the raptor!

Haha, yes. It is a complete bloodbath with that 9hp advantage......
It's a good thing that the Raptor is not a dragster!! Being as the raptor is turning 35x12.50s, I should certainly hope that a Chevy, with similar hp, and turning Go Cart tires could beat it...... Till you left the pavement.
Oh, and that is one ugly truck. I love the new body style chev/gmc, but that aftermarket abortion looks terrible.

Why do people keep calling the Ford 6.2L the Raptor motor? It is no different than the 6.2L put in the non-Raptor Ford trucks.
That would be like calling the LS3 the "Corvette." Sounds stupid, doesn't it. Especially since the LS3 is also put in the Camaro.

who knows nitrous. Both the Ford 6.2L and the GM 6.2L sound like beasts. Pretty cool the GM one has the tech to get good MPGs in addition to all that power. Is the cylinder deactivation a pretty proven technology now? Reliable to 200k+ miles?

Nitrous- not that it matters, but it is actually different than the 6.2l in the super duty. That 6.2 has different cams and is detuned for commercial use. That being said, it is still the same as the 6.2 that was available in a regular F150 except that you can adjust the tuning on the raptor when you are in off road mode.... Which would make no difference in normal use.
I am not meaning to contradict you, because it isn't a special motor made for the Raptor. And you are correct, it shouldn't be referred to as a "Raptor Engine"

Yes it is plenty reliable, manufacturers have been doing this since the 90s. I think cadillac started it first. My 2006 Dodge Hemi has it and so far no problems.

GM had a hell of a time on the 07-13 trucks with the 4cyl mode ordeal. Burned oil, bad on the lifters, all kinds of problems. A TON of guys had it tuned out by a good tuner to not go into the fuel saving mode. Run a search on it, you'll find all kinds of threads and issues.

I really wish Chevy would open their wheel wells up at the bottom so that you could put bigger than a 33" tire on the trucks without doing a 6" lift kit.

I like it. Not sure I like the pic above, but I googled it and saw more pics and looks pretty cool. Not sure about the name though. Seems like a cheesy rip off.

That is awful. I also don't like the squared off wheel wells. I see Toyota is coming out with something similar. Probably a few bolt on parts, plastic wheel flares and a bunch of stickers.

The Reaper sports a Lingenfelter supercharged V8 under the hood making a total of 550 hp. That's 139 more ponies than the Raptor, which is rated at 411 hp.
Slow I don't think so. I don't think it looks that bad. Here is the article with some info.

Well then, to be fair, and comparing apples to apples, this would need to be compared to the Roush Raptor, or the Hennessy velociraptor, which are 590 and 600hp....
Convenient, that article failed to mention that. If Chevy built this thing, in it's entirety, it would be directly comparable. On top of that, most warranty work will need to be put through lingenfelter, which is a PITA, to get approvals. (Same applies with Hennessy, if I'm being honest). However, a Roush Raptor is directly warrantied, by ford, at any ford dealer.

That's not even close to be an answer to the Raptor.
