I'm looking at a used boat that I'm told by the owner has had the gelcoat refinished over the entire hull. The boat has a lot of dark blue gel coat, and apparently it spent about a year sitting on a lot in the sun and had significant fading and oxidation. The refinishing process was decribed as sanding down, buffing, and then polishing and waxing to remove oxidation and dings and restore a "like new" appearance. My question: will this refinished finish last, or is this something that is going to look like crap again in a year or so? I understand the need to continue to wax, etc. but not sure how I expect the refinish to hold up. Any thoughts?
