I guess whatever works for you. For me, I wasnt landing HS 5s consistently thinking about it as a 360 then 180 or as a 540...then I tried something strange that works really well for me. I think about it like a HS 180 first, so I get "over my toes" early, then finish the spin. People tell me it actually looks like I do more of a 360 then 180, but in my head I think about it as 180, then 360. I dont actually pause at 180, just thinking about it like that gets me over my toes. If I just think about 5, I slide out on my butt. If nothing else works, might as well give that a try.
