Just fyi Nick, I could make fun of your spelling of recommomend. I could but I think you are a true wakeboarder, like I, so I move on. Just something to think about.

Nick try looking at the eminence 8's Its what i built my speakers with. Put some HCLDs behind them and an amp to push 'em and your set.

Nick, how about making a mounting plate and putting some 6" components in there? I wonder if they'd just about squeeze in there if you mounted the 6" driver as far to one side as possible.

Nick, We have used Kicker CVR 8" in cans as a midbass speaker with a 6.5 and a tweeter. So you can use a sub, it just depends on what your overall sound goal is. If you are looking for more of a coaxial speaker setup take a look at the Kicker SS-MB8 (believe they are discountinued now) because you can add the tweeter to it.

As far as sound goal, anything is better than the stock bazooka stuff. Just to add a little more meat to the treble that blasts outta the kickers

The fosgate ones look great too. Are they worth an extra $100 for a pair? this is the bazooka housing

If you haven't already done so take out the current speaker inside the Bazooka Cans and measure your cutout diameter. That way you know what will fit. The Kickers have a mounting cut out of 7 1/16. And the Fosgates are 7 1/8.

those kickers are just mids- they don't have any high range so you'll need a tweeter or horn unless you have another set of tower speakers that already give you the high end. I'd run a 60Hz high pass to both, and a 500Hz low pass if you are just going to run the kicker sub. The fosgates have a built in crossover so you won't need a low pass to the woofer.

What is the setup of your tower now? How would the bazooka cans be wired to the amp? Would they be wired to there own channel(s) on the amp? Depending on your setup and how it all is wired it will depend on which speaker to recommend.

Right now we have 4 kicker 6.5" with some tiny tweeter speaker, wired so they're using two of the four channels on the amp ( each speaker at 2 ohms) I'll have two open channels on the amp that the bazookas used, on low pass... whatever speaker is there will get ~150 watts but can be high or low pass When all is said and done I we will have the 4 kicker 6.5" comp speakers and two 8" speaker/subs (which we do now, only the bazookas are worthless).... the kickers there now are great but there is just too much treble unless your ear is right next to the bazooka. Here it all is currently

For what you are trying to accomplish sound wise, i would go with the Kicker CVR's. I would play around with the High/Low pass to see what you like the sound of the best. But my thoughts are that the low pass is going to work the best just have your frequency range turned up on it so it acts more like a mid, and then probably increase your gains as well. Are you running a main sub in the boat as well?

Yup. in the boat we have a 15" sub... low is taken care of by that. I was thinking use the 8's as mids too... I didn't think much bass would be sent back towards the rider if they were used like a sub. Kickers are looking good to me just because of the price, but also the fosgates seem to be a dedicated mid which if that isn't want I want it will sound used as a sub **that picture is everything that needs to be seen, the rest is details.

I think I am going with the Kickers... a few really good deals on ebay, and it cannot get worse than just not using the bazooka's.... so I'll post up on if it is better/worse/no change when all is said and done.

One of the old defcons came with kicker comps in them they sounded pretty good. And comps are cheap to buy.
