could this be done
i can get the motor of an oldish mower for free and think in would be sick to make a winch for me and my buddies to ride here at school. Will a motor off a mower get the job done? If not are there any cheaper solutions to the motor question? Unfortunately im on a college budget

Most lawnmowers have vertical drive shafts. It can be done but would require allot more engineering. Find a motor with a keyed horizontal drive shaft.
