Let it snow for the next three months straight, not sure where you are but our lake levels are so low that if we don't get snow, snow, and more snow we won't have any water in the lakes next year to play in.

We had over 2' of snow & the lake was frozen over for a week by the first day of winter. It's fun for the quads & will be good for the lake next summer so I'm just trying to be patient.

It's just refilling the watershed so we've got lots of nice clean water for next season. Besides, the driving is vastly more entertaining when the roads are covered. I enjoy it! (OK, so I'm weird) Merry Christmas. (Message edited by rallyart on December 24, 2008)

I actually miss it. I have not seen snow since I moved down to Fl from Ct. I would actually kill to trade places for a week.

I don't mind the snow so much I am pretty set up for it. What happened here in north west Indiana last week was 1/2 inch of ice then the temp dropped to 8 degrees and hasn't gone above freezing since. I can now Ice skate all over my driveway and yard.

The powder has been great! Shoveling and snow blowing everyday, however, is getting old.

Now Im really sick of the snow...over the river and through the woods to grandmothers house we go...I decide to go around a downed tree and slipped into a shallow ditch filled with fresh, heavy and wet snow. Two trucks tried to pull me out but no luck, looks like tomorrows project. Oh and get this the old lady says "don't you want to bring your jacket in case we get stuck" "Oh, I won't get stuck" I said. Famous last words:

I'm ok with the snow. The lakes in MN really could use the extra water in the spring.

We walked out on the ice on Liberty today. It hasn't been over 32 F in at least 2 weeks. We've seen -15 F one night, and several nights around 0 F. So last Monday morning I saw about 100' of the north shore froze with waves on it, white caps on the rest of the lake. Then Tuesday morning the wind died & the ice covered the entire lake. Since then we have had sub zero temps & over a foot of snow on top of the ice. So we're walking around on the ice at the north shore today & I can stomp thru the first few layer & to the water but there is another, more solid layer underneath. We saw plenty of footprints, sled tracks & cross country ski tracks. I need to bring the chainsaw down & see how thick the ice is to see if it's OK for the ATVs.

10" for ATV's. 6" for walking on. You can go on when it's thinner but any inconsistency gives you a dangerous situation. 8" for a hockey game but you can start flooding when it's 6".

Hopefully Summit County gets dumped on...I need some powder out there for next week. Can't wait! Although I would rather be wakeboarding, winter gets in the way...a lot.

Well after the fog cleared we went footin again today...not a wakeboarder in sight. Flat glass and sunny, but that 49 degree water is cold on the barefeet. I used my shoeskis to get some insulation/warmth, after some barefoot runs. that cooler full of hot water really helps too.

Hell yeah! We'll hook you up. my buddy Roy was just a boom baby in June 08, by October he was longline, one foots, tumbles, wake crossing, and trying toeholds, trying backdeeps, he solidified his footing, and is prepped to really step it up in 09. just go on youtube and check out the videos he's sacfooter, heres a link to his page, with 75 barefooting videos. http://www.youtube.com/user/sacfooter

I agree with Tim B. Let it snow. We need it here in Las Vegas. The water is so low right now that we might need to change the sport to mud boarding.

Now anyone can dunk... But driving is slower, since you've got to yield at every corner or risk getting nailed by someone you can't see...

I was somewhat at peace with the snow until my snowboarding trip got pushed back a few weeks due to about a week of storms, followed by several days of 80km/h+ (~50mph?) of wind. Not impressed anymore. Give me spring or give me death.

See the good thing about California is that we keep the snow and cold up in the mountains where you can go visit it then come home and go out on the water all in the same day/weekend.

By Andy loves Delta glass (bftskir)See the good thing about California is that we keep the snow and cold up in the mountains where you can go visit it then come home and go out on the water all in the same day/weekend. And get to enjoy the traffic, smog, fires, taxes & total lack of water while your home too. Been there, was fun, but like anyplace else, it has it's good & bad. We've got 45 & rain tonite, melting the snow like crazy. (Message edited by bill_airjunky on January 06, 2009)

I'm glad you like it in WA. what's the bad there? I don't commute so I rarely sit in traffic. Smog? haven't seen that since I moved up from Socal, fires? not in norcal(except oakland hills once yrs ago)taxes? you don't have any? total lack of water? I live right next to the largest estuary on the west coast of the United States or North America ie THE DELTA. We'll be going out on the total lack of water and barefooting tomorrow the sun will be shinning its gonna be good. (Message edited by bftskir on January 07, 2009)

Who said anything about liking it in WA, Andy? Yea, I do, but it's not like I'm bragging about how great it is here. The bad here.... we have bad weather from time to time. The good though..... we pay taxes on our boat one time & one time only. We have places to ride that not only have good water, great weather, but we're not hitting deadheads, or rocks, tearing up our boats. We don't have nearly as much traffic, on the lakes or the roads. The Bay area has some of the worst traffic anywhere. And the Delta was nutty when we were riding there in 2007. I just hope it's not that crazy all the time. I've spent some time in the Bay area, and in Norcal, and in Socal. They all had good & bad. Norcal dealt with huge fires for weeks this year. The water levels in Norcal lakes are lowlowlow right now. Maybe their not in the Delta, but that is the exception, and when Shasta county decides their done keeping the dam open, then you may have a problem. I won't blame anyone for rubbing your nose in it if that happens. Have a little compassion man. The thread is about the wild weather a lot of us are going thru. We don't need to hear you gloating about how glorious it is at your house. I just keep telling myself, "If you can't handle the winters, then you don't deserve the summers".
