Just when you thought you've seen every boat out there. Looks like a killer set up if the wake produces. Anyone have any experience?
And yes, I'm browsing CL at work.

An old Nauty Excel. Yes they produce a nice wake.

THATS a hefty price for an excel. I would probably not spend more then 13 for one unless it was an open bow and was in excellent condition.

I had one and it was a fun boat but the wake is kinda mushy compared to newer v drives. such a deep v it doesnt produce wakes like you could get from a sport nauty or a 2001.

That boat is a hard find if you are looking for one. I was shocked to see one about 30 minutes from where I live one day. I have probably 1 of the 3 or 4 wakeboats in the area and the odds of one being an Excel have to be slim.

You're right Andy. That is a pretty deep v. My thought was a crew of four or less could really load the hell out of it. I bet you could stash a grip in the bow.

i loaded mine up with 5 fat sacks and 11 deep cycle batteries and and 5 guys and it threw a nice wake but sure handled sluggish, it has only one tracking fin upfront so it doesnt corner well. Im told by the guys that designed them if you put more then one fin up front on them the will turn on a dime maybe too hard.

cool boat though totally different, and built like a nautique. great quality.

Mine was pretty abused by previous owner but still ran great and was in suprisngly good condition for the most part.

Andy, didn't you pick one up for a ridiculously low price? I have always like the look of the Excel, I have never been in or behind one though. I think the Barefoot shared the same hull during this era and some of the Barefoots were V-drive and had optional 454's.

Yes i did.

the barefoot and the excel had the same hull from 91-93 i believe. I think 93 or 94 was last year i dont recall exactly. great boats deeeeeep v hull. the barefoot came in a big block. they where the same boats basically with different names and stickers.

and yes I did ok on the sale of that boat. after i put quite a bit of man hrs into it though.
