Does anyone know how the boat sank? It was in up to the tower, that was insane.

IMO, if it was in up to the tower, it sank. When I saw that, I was heart-broken.

Amazing thing is that they pulled the boat to shore and apparently it drained and everything still worked.

Anyone know the full story? I assume something to do with leaving the ballast in and dragging the boat underwater while tied to houseboat overnight.

I have no inside source, but I'd wager a good amount of money it was being towed, the nose caught, and it was drug under. Same thing happened to one of my friends and his Air Nautique on a houseboat trip. It can happen quickly, so if you don't have someone back there keeping an eye out, bye bye boat.

I could be completely wrong on this, but Justin Stephens was on fuel tv's the daily habit and I think he said something about the minerals in lake powell had something to do with it. But like I said, I could be completely wrong. Did anyone else see that Daily Habit?

nope. they were all here in discovery bay after it happened while the boat was in the shop gettin a few small repairs and checked up.

the front ballast was left full while they were towing it behind the houseboat at lake powell. if any of you have been there you know that in the main channell the swell and rollers rolling around are over head high at times. pretty gnarly. anywase while towing with the front ballast full it took on a few rollers taking it under. they were able to get it to shore though and save it. thankfully they were able to drain it out and most everything did work fine, fired right up pretty much

LF tied the tow rope to the top bow hook instead of the bottom one. This added with the weight and the fact everyone was partying and not paying attention to the boat led to the sinking.

Great story...
