I stayed at Namale, Fiji and there was not the option to surf anywhere near the resort. It was a honeymoon, so I couldn't pick a surf destination.
Anyway, I took my equipment b/c I didnt know if they would have wakeboards, but they did. Halfway decent equipment too. The boat was a joke (runabout with a pylon), but it was cool nonetheless.
A volcano had erupted south of Fiji and lava rock was floating everywhere, which gave me an idea. It collected on the shore so I would kind of tail slide into it. Cool experience, but it tore up the bottom of my ride.
One day the water was pretty much flat, so it was fun cruising and carving on the open ocean.
Just thought I would pass the info along. So you can wakeboard in Fiji. The resort is private, but if you go it is unlimited (free) wakeboarding. I would have ridden everyday, but a couple of the days the water was super rough due to storms.
Can't surf make your own...
As a side note, some barefooter had been there and taught them to wakeboard. He signed and gave them a two page spread from waterski magazine of him doing a raley on a wakeskate and barefooting out of it and they posted that in their dive shop. Not sure who it was though?
