Just wanted to show everyone considering tower speakers or upgrading from car tower speakers what the Wet Sounds look like on a Illusion Tower. I was one of the first speaker box Companys back in 1999. ( the days of the aluminum box with car 6X9,s) All I have to say is Tower speakers have come a long way and Wet Sounds is out there in the front leading the way. Don't make fun of my reg. #, new ones are on order. (Message edited by massattitude on July 14, 2006)

I'm making the switch as well . Gotta get rid of my fusions first. How's the sound at your platform? I'll be using a line driver w/ a volume control as per Tim's recommendations, so that I can adjust the volume of the tower speakers seperately.

I had issues running my (4) Pro 80's thru my eq (Clarion 5500). The Pro 80's sounded alot better (warmer and not as bright, and louder) w/o the eq. With the eq I have to turn the high and mid high almost all the way down to reproduce a "similar" sound as w/o. It's strange but unless I run them thru my eq I get quite a bit of engine noise, I would think the opposite woudl hold true. But at the end of the day they still sound great though.

adam... i noticed the pro 80's were a tad on the bright side.. it seems if a 3-6 db off the top would not be a bad thing (they are too bright for people in the boat imo)

I love these threads that constantly re-appear - but every time they do I feel very confident in saying that I have been SUPER happy with my wetsounds! Get some speakersox covers for them as well! I heart mine!

clubmyke, that's one of the reasons I still run them thru the eq/linedriver. I've heard rumors of wetsounds ading some sort of atenuation circuit on them (3db). As of now I don't think there is any attenuation on them???? I'm still waiting to hear the (2) pro 80's with a single 485. I just really like the look of 4 cans on a tower.

I'm running a JL 300x2 to the pro 80. another 300x4 to the JLs in the boat. 500x1 to a 10 W-7. Sounds clean. Won't make your ears bleed though.

IMO 150 RMS is not enough for a single PRO 80. I run approx 200 RMS to each of mine. I've run close to 400 RMS to each pod as a test.....they held up fine and freakin screamed, but the amp shut down (protection...I had it bridged in 2ohms.) Anyone running 250-300 RMS to each one?

Adam-Im running 150x2 thru a JL Slash amp as well to a set of 80's and honestly have the gain way down. These things go louder then I want to ever take them with just the measly 150w. I have no doubt they can handle much more but my ears ring at the end of the day as it is.

I'm running a bridged 4 channel rockford fosgate 450.4 which produces 225rms to each pro 80. I'm pretty happy but I have nothing inwhich to compare.
