What do you guys do to ensure proper winterizing of the ballast tanks/sac. Do you just add rv antifreeze and backflush all tanks/hoses or do you pull everything apart and blow out all the hoses.

I am going to pay my dealership to do it for me. I had a check valve break last winter and when I went to put it in this last spring I had six inches of water in the bottom of my boat before I could get it back on the trailer. It's worth th money to have it done right!

I have a 2005 X-2 and I do all of the winterizing myself (bought it in '04). As far as the ballast goes, after I flush out the tanks with "tap" water, I hook up a short piece of clear hose (5-6') to the the ballast "T" fitting. I put the other end of the hose in to a gallon of RV antifreeze which I place on the swimstep. I also turn off the ballast emergency shut off valve. I run all 3 pumps momentarily to start the flow of antifreeze. I then fill each tank seperately with about a gallon of antifreeze. When done, I turn the emergency shutoff lever back to open (I know I would forget it in the spring). This way all of the pumps are filled with AF and each tank contains enough AF to offset any water that could freeze.

This is the procedure outlined in the MC manual and written to me by my dealer.

The primary concern is to get AF into the pumps.
