I am curious on how much weight (factory ballast) , how much additional weight (people or fatsacs), and how fast do you surf? Here is my setup which is pretty week for now. I am eventually getting more ballast. 2006 MC X15 Stock ballast (650lbs i think) Usually about 7-10 people 10.5-10.7mph

Ryan- What side are you surfing on ? I tried your same listed setup on our 06 VLX with only 4 peeps in boat and couldnt get a wave to form with the wedge down on drivers side. Once wedge was back up got a decent wave but not great.

04 Bu LSV 250 stock in back locker(rider side) 8-11 people on rider side and wedge down = roughly 3000# all on one side 13.5 mph according to pp but i think its more like 9.5-10.5 I tried filling the middle and front tanks when it was just 4 people plust the driver and the wave was too small to surf, but maybe i'll try again when there is more people in the boat to off set the forward weight.

WoW! It looks like i am riding a little slow. I was told that if you go a little fast it lengthens your pocket but makes your wake smaller. Have you all heard that? I am trying to figure out how much weight everyone is putting in there boat to get a good wake. My wake is pretty decent but the pocket is pretty close to the boat. I would like to be a few more feet back.

Josh, Generally: Faster = smaller wake Slower = bigger wake, smaller pocket More weight allows you to go faster with a big wake and a deep pocket.

02 xstar factory starboard tank factory center bag 4 people ~550 lbs along starboard side (2 front 1 driver 1 rear locker/seat) 9.5mph i can stay with that wave no problem although 1-2 more people allowed us to pump up to 9.8 or 10mph and definitely increased the pocket length. surfing is basically our new favorite activity so we are looking into additional ballast options right now. at one point i had the two factory bags at 10.3 with 9 people in the boat and the wave was a bit bigger but honestly not any "better" than with 4-5 people and almost too steep.

2007 Wakecraft Full 1200 lbs. Ballast 500 lb sack on back seat Driver and one other passenger both about 230. But thats surfing two at the same time. When only one surfing we will have the other sit up front to lengthen it a bit. 10 MPH even. I'll get some pic's when by buddy emails them finally. (Message edited by deltaboy on July 14, 2007)

CR - with the 21 v, I'm assuming the wake plate is all the down, correct? I have the same boat and will be wake for the first time next week.

I only lower the wake plate on my boat if we slow down to about 9 mph or if there's too much weight in the aft.

sorry, I meant the wakeplate position would be all the way up, at about 10mph while surfing.

bill, the wake plate will affect the height of the wake quite a bit. all the way up, it gets pretty tall. all the way down and it flattens out. generally, i ride at about 50%. unless im just trying to boost off the lip while holding the rope, then i put it all the way up and slam into it. good times. let me know what weight config you go with... i'm still tweaking mine too. CR, thanks, I'll give it a try next week. I'll be at the delta for a week and plan to mess around with weight to see what works.
