Severe brain trauma on a basic wake jump? Did he hit a log or the board, or was it just a freak accident? Is it possible to hit the water that hard at 23 or so MPH to cause this sort of injury?

I know that everyone wishes Colby a speedy recovery.

I just read on the Dallas Wakeboarding site that the doctors think that Colby must have hit his head on something. There has been nothing said of a laceration though. The unbelievable part is that he got back in the boat and started to drive to pull his buddy, got a about 50 feet and became ill. It is a very sobering reminder about how quickly something can go terribly wrong and how we as boaters must remain alert at all times.

My prayers go out to Colby, his family and friends.

Thanks for the update Jman. I found the original thread, that leads to the doc's figuring that Colby hit something...his board or a submerged object (see below). I guess that head injuries are rated on a scale from 3 to 15, 3 being the worst. Colby is rated around a 4 to 5 and has developed pneumonia...I read that is common when you are on life support. So tragic. Jman, if you follow this, maybe you can update us on his condition? Hopefully Colby will pull through.
