Sorry for the loss of your friend Boris. Too many take boating safety for granted.

Hey Paul, did you compete in 2005 at WakeBoardWorldCup in Russia? I remember guy with word "MORGS" at the bottom of the board. In the final runs he broken the board. That was you?

No, it wasnt me - it must have been another "Morgs". I did have a mate compete in that comp though, Andy Meyenberg from Switzerland. He won the Masters division...

My thoughts and prayers to Roma's family and friends. It's always so sad to hear about these incidents. How was the boat beside yours involved, if you don't mind saying? Just curious.

It was very simple and very stupid situation. The driver on that boat(it was rockaway boat) with his family just lookout the Romas riding. Than we descry the boat coming from the opposite direction. Our "audience" clap eyes on that boat and driver start to reform under us and reduse the throttle, just straight to rider. Roma tho cant drop the handle. That was doing too fast.
Sorry for the lame english.

i am very sorry to hear about your loss. RIP

no disrespect to boris but can anyone try to further explain the situation? did an oncoming boat hit Roma? again, i am truly sorry. just like andy said above, knowing the full story will help teach others a lesson and hopefully prevent other accidents like this

u think thats lame? you should hear my spanish...
no disrespect just trying to lighten the mood
i think Boris said basically
that a boat came in the opposite direction
a guy out with his family with maybe a rental? boat from "rockaway" was NOT looking out for Roma
and angled as they past and hit him as he was riding and they were going too fast for Roma to let go or avoid the collision.
which would be a very simple very stupid situation.(because of the guy not watching out and going too fast)

is that about right Boris?
is it a very busy area? crowded?

it sounds terrible.

i'm really sorry.

Sounds like a boat was driving next to them watching Roma ride. A boat came from the opposite direction. The boat driving next to them got off the throttle and turned down into Roma to avoid the oncoming boat.

That is what I got out of it anyway. Horrible either way. RIP Roma

yeah rod i think maybe you did describe it

We were wakeboarding at our usual place, steered by an experienced pilot.
The downside of that place is that it isn't wide enough. During Roma's
round, a Maxum sailing boat with a family on formed up with us at the
starboard. Their boat was at a reasonably safe distance from ours.
A few minutes later, a large motorized yacht began moving towards us from
the right side. The pilot of the boat moving parallel to us must have been
so carried away watching Roma's jumps that he noticed the incoming yacht
too late. It was already very close. To avoid the collision with the yacht,
he abruptly turned in our direction, reduced his speed not to crash into us
and thus ran over Roma.

Thanks to Paul Morgan for translation.
