I've been workin on my backrolls for a while now....was wondering if compacting a little bit in the air would allow for more spotting time on the way down. Wondering if anybody has any insights into this or any advice. Its greatly appreciated!! THANKS!
Compacting yourself in the air will help you rotate faster, as will keeping the handle close to your lead hip, which will give you more time to spot your landings, but beware of over-rotating.
Ben, The best way to learn a backroll is to practice it out in the flats. This will help you understand the rotation and how to get the pop correctly without hurting yourself. Once you get to the point you are coming around 3/4 of the way consistently then take it to the wake with a short approach. This trick is not about speed.
