Ok so i dont know if you guys remembered my post about my CWB board feeling like it was riding slow and the boat always pulling me. So today I rode a little faster and the board was riding on top and seemed to be good. When I asked how fast i was riding they said 30-32. Ok this is a new boat so im betting that the speedo cheats..... ALOT. What do you guys think. Another thing is im having trouble landing my jumps and getting enough air. Any advice?

go about 25 mph. 32 is what you should water ski at
Slow it down a little.

ps/I bet those falls hurt

hahaha the falls dont feel too bad im going to use the gps because I think the speedo is a bit optomistic LOL. But the falls dont hurt anymore than before with my centurion

Tell your driver to slow their roll. I would say no faster than 26. Depending on what I'm trying to do, my speed ranges anywhere from 19 to 25.

the only thing is that if the speed is to low it feels like the board is sinking. Im riding a cwb kink 141 just to let you guys know

You're not going thirty miles and hour

If you were really going thirty you would know. I ride on the fast side @ 25-26 and thirty would seem like warp speed. I couldn't imagine what a face plant at thirty would feel like.

ok then im definately thinking it is cheating. it feels fast but not super fast. face plants always suck, unfortunately I did many of those today LOL

One or two face plants @ 30 would most likely end your session.

Trust me, you don't want to ever find out what it feels like. I was done for the day, that's for sure.

yea nothing like that at all.

30+ is ridiculously fast. I've gone over thirty once on a wakeboard, not sure exactly how fast i was going. One end of the lake got blown out so i had the driver jet over to another cove. I was just hanging on, couldnt imagine trying anything at those speeds. the board didnt track at all. my guess is the speedo is off but you still may be on the fast side. if you are just learning there isnt really any reason to get over 22 mph.

Got a ski course on the lake? If you run it you can time yourself to calibrate your boat speed.

Boat speedos are almost always wrong. I would seriously like to see a gps reading from the people who ride at 25. 23-24 seems fast enough to stop me from cutting in too deep, also kills the size of the wake......That said. I don't have a gps either so who knows.

The last boat that I rode behind just had the perfect pass calibrated with a GPS and the speed was 26 MPH.

Yes the wake gets a little smaller but it also gets harder. I guess it could be a problem if your boat has a micro wake to start out with.

I see runabouts pulling little kids at warp speed all the time on our lake. I can just imagine what the conversation is like between the father and son. Crying, "no dad I don't want to wakeboard!" Dad, Stern voice, "get in the water kid"

It feels really fast when the boat goes 30 mph with noone being towed!

One time we pulled my friend pretty fast in a straight line just to see if he could do it. He gave me a very enthusiastic cut sign at 30.

Face Plants at 30mph hurt, face plants coming off a tube at 55mph hurt more, been there done that, never again

We did a dam to dam race on lake Austin I hit about 50+ mph man what a rush. I say 50+ because only one other boat that was even close toped out at 47mph. The speedo on our teams boat was maxed out @ 50. There was a fisherman thatt said he passed us @ 55 or so it took him a few sec to get pass.

I've heard if your able to reach over 50mph on a wakeboard you reach some kind of crazy equilibrium where your board lifts off the water and actually flies itself, allowing you to let go of the handle and chart your own course.

I've never had the guts to try it but if somebody could try riding over 50 mph and let me know it would be cool.....

Could you be looking at the RPM gauge instead? A buddy at work once did that for about 6 months before he realized it........(he doesn't teach math any longer)

I'm with Walt... My PP guage is pretty damn accurate next to a GPS and I ride at 25.

yeah, one time the perfect pass didn't kick in and the driver wasn't paying attention when I was riding, and it got up to 33 mph. I was basically holding on for dear life, its amazing how much faster 9 mphs more actually feels when on a wakeboard!

I rode my wakeskate once at 46 (top speed of my friends air natique). It was pretty sketchy... The water wasnt exactly butter lol. When I try to barefoot start off my wakeskate I go about 36+ mph. I've never tried to w2w at that speed before though, forget that!

beginners ride at 16 to 18 mph
intermediate ride 19 or 20

advanced ride around 20 to 24

With the exception of beginners starting out slow I don't buy into the speed brake down posted above.

Bottom line is ride at the speed that feels right for you.

Occasionally "flooring it" seemed pretty common to me to be honest. I am sure there are many out there who have given the "I am sucking chop back here, floor it and get me some decent water" sign. Typically I will just crouch real low, ball up and stay right in the trough until we are back into a decent area of water. Having towed often enough, it becomes obvious when this is needed and typically the driver and rider are usually in agreement.

I dont get why it doesnt feel like the board is holding you up..... a 141 should hold up the heaviest of riders....

i ride around 22 or 23 on a 75 foot rope for the most part
