Any thoughts on this boat. I don't know much about Nautiques. How would this compare to a 2000 X-Star. Its loaded up with ballast everything like a normal X Star of that year. What is the wake like etc. Anything I should look for when it comes to Nautique? Thanks you guys have been very helpful.

I asked a similar question a few months ago right before buying my 2000 SAN :-)

I've got one, and love it. Two things I don't like about it, the rear hatch is a one piece witch sucks when swapping out riders, and the ballast pumps are painfully slow, and hard to access from the drivers seat. The wake is second to none if you like extremely hard and vert wakes.

As far as comparing it to the 2000 X-Star, that's a tough one. The X-Star has more of a transition to the wake, but it's every bit as substantial as the SAN. My three knocks on the X-Star are... the bow rides too high while underway, the boat needs a lot more ballast than the SAN for a descent wake, and I don't like the original tower style.

Both boats tops in quality, and pure wake performance. You really can't go wrong with either.

Cliff.... what do you mean by this?

"the rear hatch is a one piece witch sucks when swapping out riders"

I know that it is one piece, but why does it matter? is it because you can't have two people on the hatch at the same time or is it something else?

We ride a lot in the winter, so space is limited considering all the gear we take to stay warm. When a rider is finished, he takes his wet things off on the rear deck and I put them in the rear hatch to keep the boat dry. We also store most of our gear under the rear hatch, so we are always opening and closing the hatch. The other thing about it I hate is the fact that you have to use the hydraulic lift mechanism to open it. I've asked my dealer to keep an eye out for a 2001 three piece rear hatch so I can replace this one.

i think what he means is, if the hatch is up, you can't climb over it. At least that is my deal with my 205V from 2000. So if you in the area for getting gear or checking on your ballast or whatever, it needs to be done from the boat side and can't be gotten to from the swim platform side.

Cliff, If you had the gumption you could just cut up the one piece hatch into the three door style. I've been contemplating this for awhile now as well, but haven't pulled the trigger on making the first cut - I run into the same issues when riding in the early spring with the single hatch and trying to keep the inside of the boat dry and 'warm'.

SAN wake is one of the most sought after wakes by boarders. If you have never ridden one you are in for a real treat. I just bought a 99 super air and love it. Dont get me wrong I like X star wake. SAN wake is solid vert that has crazy booting effect. Also you dont have to over weight it to get a nice wake. That is just my .o2 cents.

yea SAN210 all the way the xstar u have to load it down to have a decent wake with the SAN being smaller than the xstar u just need the stock ballast to have a good wake and if u add extra the wake is the best ever

Sinko, if you do that take lots of pics and post them. I've thought about it before but it seems difficult.
