I just picked up my new 2006 Malibu Wakesetter VLX over the weekend. I am thrilled but need some help on how to weight it for the best wake. I rode it yesterday for the first time and the wake was good, but it didn't blow me away. I'm thinking there is more that I could be doing to maximize the size and shape of the wake. This is how it was weighted: Both rear ballast tanks full, center ballast tank full, bow ballast about 75% full, additional 350 lbs in back plus four passengers and the wedge down. Any input on how you weight your VLX for the best wake possible would be greatly appreciated.

That's pretty much the way I rode one this weekend. Didn't have the bow ballast, but we put two side sacs and a tube sac in the front (should be about the same) One 150 on each side in the back, and two people in the boat, wedge down. Sure you can get it bigger, by putting bigger sacks in the back.

.. I rode that way about three weeks ago.

It was bigger than Attila's slammed X1. ... Sorry buddy, but it was.

If you are going to use the Wedge then you will want to put some weight up front. Drop the wedge, fill all the tanks, put 600 in the nose, 250s on either side of the engine and enjoy. You can add more as needed but that throws a sick wake.

Do you have the power wedge? If so kick it up just a notch after you get going. You can watch the wake shape change and find what shape you like.

we run all four stock ballast full 300 lbs of lead up front. 200 lbs of lead in the middle.(100 under drivers seat and 100 under passanger seat.)200 lbs of lead in the rear. Power Wedge at 3/4 to 7/8 and a wake that will be as big as you would ever want.

like heavy said, with that wedge down, you'll need more up front!

We run wedgeless, 500 in each trunk, another 400 in the nose, very nice! Fill that front tank, you need to counter that wedge out!
