How did you secure the diamond plate? What keeps water from getting underneath, sitting and rusting the trailer?

I used stainless self tapping screws and pre drilled the holes. I still have to seal them. Iam going to run a bead of clear silicone underneath around the edges and holes. After I screw it down I will wipe off the extra that squishes out

Silicone is a good idea. My trailer has that stock and it's rusting underneath the diamond plate.

I wish I had diamond plate on my previous boat's trailer. I was on the side step securing the boat cover, slipped, and cracked a rib. Diamon plate is a great safety feature and looks killer.

Funny that you say that. I burned the hell out of my foot on the ski pole block off plate I made of aluminum. It's the plate with 3 screws

I tried to upload a diamond plate speaker box I made but as always I guess I'll have to get the kids to show me how to do it. Nice job there.

Thank you every one. I would like to see that speaker box Jim. I just finished my first fiberglass tower box. I will start a thread tomorrow after I mount it.

Yes I decided to keep it. Iam going to change a few things on it. Hopefully I will be able to do it over the winter. New interior, hydrolic wake plate, rebuild motor and up the hp, change out the amps. It's cheaper to do all of that than buy a new boat. It's paid for so no monthly payments.

Silicon might do more harm than good. Water is going to get under the plate no matter what, and the silicone is going to hold it in there.

Take the plates off, have the underneath either Rhino lined or Line-Xed and then put the diamond plate back on. No more rust...Either option will cost you less than $100 for those areas and yes you can contain the small sprays in those areas with masking tape.

I thought the exact same thing as walt with the rust. I have seen lots of sanger's with the diamond plate on the fenders It dosent fair well. The ones I have seen have the fenders rusted because of the screws that hold it down and water gets trapped between the diamond plate and the fender. Aaron try this. Take the plates off and touch up the holes in the fender with touch up paint. Then get some doubble sided trim tape 3m makes it and you can get it at your local automotive paint supply store. Use the doubble sided tape to stick the diamond plate to the fender top's

I sealed the holes with silicone on the top and bottom. I ran a thick bead of it around the edges and wiped of what squished out. I don't think water will be geting underneath.

If you have non-slip tape of any kind, beware if it's loose or bubbled in any spot. It's the start of cancer. My galvanized Malibu trailer had non-slip tape on the fenders. After two years they started to come up so I took a peak underneath and the cancer was everywhere. I cleaned the area and purchased a little non-slip grit and threw it into the galvanized paint. Works great and eliminates the trapped water problem. Painted trailers look nice but I gave up on them a long time ago.
