I have a 94 Sport Nautique. I have been in the process of replaceing ripped interior but there still are some seats that have good vinyl, only got recovered a couple of years ago, but I would like to clean them the best I can. Any recomenndations on a cleaner that will not harm the material but will clean it very well? Thanks for the input.

I detail boats where I work and we use citra clean from malco, You can get it at most car dealerships. I use it on my 1994 sport nautique and it cleans the vinyl great.

Just a hunch..but "citra" sounds acidic.
If true that doesn't sounds good.

I like Meguires even though it's not MC approved. I like it better than 303. It cleans much better and deeper for me. And still leaves the vinyl moist.

I use Meguires as well and it seems to work fine. Jarrod likes it when it is left moist. Sorry, had to throw that in.

I refused to try the stuff for years because of the gay infomercial dude, but always heard Oxy-clean was good. I tried it this winter and it put all the other vinyl cleaners to shame. Made the stiching really bright white again too. I just mixed it with hot water and used a soft brush to scrub it in.

Try Mr Clean 'majic erasers", I've found they do a great job and no need for chemicals that harm the stitching.

I use Tuff Stuff.
It comes in a yellow bottle and has NO BLEACH.
It cost around $3.00 and you can get it an any auto parts store, but Staterbros has it the cheapest.
After cleaning I use 303.

303 has a cleaner that works OK. The 303 protectant is great for me, just don't care for the smell. Those Mr Clean magic erasers are awesome... I highly suggest them for general cleaning.

I tried the Mr. Clean magic erases after reading a previous thread here. Thought my white was as clean as it could come, but I was way wrong. Magic erasers pull up dirt you didn't think was there. After that, use some Meguires Vinyl and leather protectant.

I havent found anything that cleans and wont dry out or damage vinyl like Magic Eraser's.

My tip is to clean your Vinyl with a magic eraser and bucket of warm water and a bit your favrote cleaner mixed in.

This will remove all the dirt and baked in sun screen ect. It will leave your vinyl some what moist but not dry. IMO this is the way you want to leave it untill you are ready to use it.

Example I would have my boat at home and clean the hell out of it before taking it out. I would finish off my cleaning with 303 or Mcguyers Vinyl cleaner. It leaves the vinyl some what wet and for that reason it attracts or lets dirt stick to it. So after you tow your boat to the lake it looks clean but it has a thin layer of dirt stuck to it and as soon as the sun bakes it in your vinyl is dirty and you havent even used it. So my advice is to leave the vinyl clean but with little to no cleaner or protectant on it till its ready to get in the water/run

Grant,
Can you use Magic Eraser on colored vinyl? I have some black marks on grey area and have tried everything to get it off.

Robert, I used Magic Eraser on everything, red, black and white and it didn't seem to hurt it a bit.

Magic Eraser and Spray Nine followed by a heavy coat of 303 seems to work well.

I use Oxy Clean, and it works great. I have tried to find Magic Erasers, but have no luck locally. Oxy Clean works great, then I follow up with 303 protectant.

I use tough stuff then a good protectant like 303. If youve got stains or real heavy dirt ive used soft scrub and it worked awsome but youve really got to treat the vinal after words a couple of times.

I also use Magic eraser. works wonders! Buzz - I get it from Vons. most grocery stores carry it. near the normal cleaning supplies.

A couple years back, I used my pops "infomercial" stuff, I think it was quick n brite or oxyclean like another member said... It worked excellent, some of the best I've used. Havent brought my self to buy anymore but I will agree worked great!

Isaac - also get a soft scrub brush, its key to get between the vinyl / wrinkels - cool?

btw - Sat you down to ride?

Grant,

that Mr. Clean tip really works. I was amazed at how well it pulled dirt on the vinyl. There is still one seat that is spotted and I cant figure out what it is and if I can remove it. The Mr. Clean Magic erasers really do work Magic....try it!

Thanks for all the input and advice everyone!

Try Magic erasers after spraying a bit of Babe's seat soap, just something I recently tried and works great. Finish with 303, (I agree with grant, if towing then hold off.

You can get 6 erasers not "Mr. Clean" at Home Depot for $3.99, they last at least one cleaning.
