Hey guys I have a 5.7L 260 HP Mercruiser engine in my '83 Cobalt. Ok so I want to install a ballast system in it. Im just tired of throwing pumps over the side and stuff. So I think that I will go through the raw water intake but heres my question. The water somes in from the outdrive and Im not really sure if it even comes through a hose that I can tap into. And If it does has it already entered the engine so it smoking hot. Thanks for your help. O ya and i will be using a jabsco pump setup.
PS When I install my hoses going to the sacs I wont need to install 1 way valves because im using an impeller style pump right? And how should I work the overflow.
extend the factory bilge line a little so you can put a loop higher than the exit point, T the overflows into the downhill side of the loop as it approaches the hull exit. Keep in mind water flows downhill and it should make sense.
