2006 MALIBU BOATS
A STEP BEYOND NOW AND INTO THE FUTURE

FOLLOWING NO ONE
Today, Malibu is the top manufacturer of fiberglass Water Sports boats in the World, with manufacturing operations in 2 plants in the United States, one in Australia and over 125 independent dealerships worldwide.

With 100% of the company owned by the employees themselves we have never had it in us to follow in the footsteps of mediocrity but to simply follow three rules to success. Build the best boat. Enjoy our workplace. And provide the best value for our customer. Embracing this philosophy has propelled Malibu to an industry leading sixteen Product Excellence Awards including the 2005 Towboat of the Year Award from Powerboat Magazine, four U.S. patents and an incredible twelve world record performances set behind our boats. But we know this success is just the result of our relentless commitment to innovation and design with the ultimate focus in creating a better ownership experience.

A SEAMLESS BLEND OF FEATURES, QUALITY AND VALUE
We find most Malibu owners and prospects are interested in 5 major product areas when making a boat buying decision – styling, luxury, performance, technology and quality. Not surprisingly, Malibu boats excel in all of these categories and have been recognized by industry experts as the leader in such categories. For 2006 we have raised the bar in these areas and introduce an 18 boat product line-up that seamlessly blends unparalleled product features with untouchable value. Malibu boats will feature the first standard world class speed control system across the line-up, the first standard 400+ horsepower small block engine in the new 247 and a standard graphical dash system that incorporates a myriad of safety and performance features. But there is more, so read on, brace yourself for another incredible year in the Malibu family.

The Hammerhead 383 will feature exciting new aesthetics creating separation between it and the Monsoon 340. The Corvette LS1 is no longer part of the line-up due to its inability to offer ETC and standard cruise control. Indmar received the 2005 Customer Satisfaction Award from J.D. Power, a testament to their continued commitment to the highest standards of service.

MALIBU DASHES, GAUGES & ERGONOMIC DESIGN
Always at the forefront of technology Malibu introduces a driver’s cockpit display rich in full-time safety, performance and monitoring information. Incorporating these monitoring features in the 5” speedometer and tachometer provide drivers critical performance and safety data at a glance without scrolling through a display. The new LCD graphical display in the center of the dash incorporates the industries first standard World Class Speed Control (Precision Pro Speed Control) and the first ever graphical ballast monitoring system (BMS). The (FSTN) film compensated super twisted Nematic display is one of the most recent advances in graphical displays. It allows for higher contrast and greater viewing angles. The GPS option has been discontinued for 2006. Every Malibu will be standard with the Billet Dash Insert.

INTERIOR UPGRADES & CHANGES

STEREO COMPONENT CHANGES 2006
Malibu will reach for sound’s highest pinnacle of function in 2006 when they blend the durability of Sony Head Units and the power of Kicker subwoofers, power amplifiers and speakers. Maximizing sound quality and value in all Malibu boats has been a priority in the engineering department this season. More subtle Kicker speakers replace Sony Xplodes for better glare reduction on dashes. Hear the increased power from the 550 & 1000 watt power amplifiers now available from Kicker.

ALL NEW POWER WEDGE!
It has arrived! Evolving from WaterSki Magazine’s proclamation as “The Impact Design of the Year” the new Power Wedge becomes “Wakeboarding’s Impact Design of the Future”. Wedge technology expands on huge wakes to designer huge wakes. That’s right the size increases but the shape can be adjusted to each and every rider style and ability. The Power Wedge can be adjusted creating the equivalent of 400lbs to 1200lbs of displacement. Imposters use a trim plate that will only change the attitude of the boat but does not displace the hull therefore only the wake shape changes. The Wedge takes advantage of advanced foil technology to displace the hull and at the same time adjust the attitude of the boat for huge yet adjustable wakes. A separate gauge in the cockpit tells the driver the exact Wedge location for rider customization. The manual Wedge is still offered for 2006 and is available with a stainless bracket and Wedge foil option. NOTE: The Wedge options should be declared at time of ordering since Wedge Plates and Wedges are not standard on Wakesetters for 2006.

TOWERS 2006
The Illusion X tower is now standard on all Malibu Wakesetters and Ride series boats. The Titan Series III is an option at no cost increase. The Blade upgrade is a upgrade but includes integrated Loud Box, (4) Kicker speakers and can be customized with a two tone color combination to match the boat.

POSITIONING STRATEGIES

With Malibu’s incredible eighteen model line-up it is imperative for all of to know where to position each Malibu model while fully understanding the needs of our customer. In other words, who was this boat built for and why will it meet their specific needs and budget? With the ever expanding water sports disciplines and the ever increasing desire for performance and family versatility Malibu stands at the ready to deliver the highest quality ownership experience available.

MALIBU LUXURY SPORT-V SERIES
This segment of the luxury water sports runabouts might be the easiest to understand how to position but the toughest to justify to a stern drive customer. So it is imperative to get them on the water so they can truly understand its distinct performance and safety advantages. Malibu luxury sport V’s are distinctly different from all stern drives but they also have numerous distinct advantages over any other V-drive on the market. Malibu did not settle for a Sport-V that would merely beat the performance standards of a stern drive. No, every Malibu has been painstakingly designed to reach the highest performance and safety standards known to our entire industry. That is why you will find the same underwater, throttle and dash components used in our LSV series as you will find in our record achieving performance class. This year you will find the first standard Precision Pro Speed Control on every LSV. And with Malibu’s precisely tuned hulls you will find buttery soft slalom wakes originally reserved for smaller inboards too! When the time comes for stowing away the ski and getting big air Malibu offers the one and only Wedge or Power Wedge to quickly and safely transform your wake into its much bigger alter ego.
If all the talk was about Malibu’s incredible performance they would only be telling half the story. The beautifully crafted interior with the marine industry’s highest grade vinyl and the expertly applied 10-stage gel coat artistry will leave the rest of the lake green with envy. The LSV series from Malibu is no doubt for the boater looking for the perfect blend of great ride, all around performance, unparalleled craftsmanship and a warranty designed for a lifetime of boating pleasure. Any prospect considering a Sea Ray, Cobalt, Chapparrel, Regal or Four Winns must first consider the Malibu Luxury Sport V Series. Any inboard owner looking for increased space and recreational quality without sacrificing performance should certainly consider the Malibu Luxury Sport V.

XTI SERIES (CROSS TRAINER)
No other boat design in history has filled the niche for all-around performance and recreational quality as well as the Malbu Sunsetter XTi Series. With an unprecedented 3 Boat of the Year Awards and first ever inboard design with wrap around seating the XTi series is certainly unique if not revolutionary. With an expansive interior sectioned into 3 separate social zones the XTi takes the best of a recreationally designed deck boat and blends it with the handling, power and wake characteristics reserved for the finest of Malibu inboards. The XTi series is a perfect choice for the customer not willing to sacrifice the balance between performance, seating, storage and comfort. The XTi might be the only boat on the market today to achieve peak levels of performance in slalom and wakeboarding alike. No other manufacturer offers this configuration and therefore no other manufacturer can compete. This boat certainly stands alone as the wave of performance future evolves and expands.

WORLD CLASS WAKESETTER SERIES
The Wakesetter Series continues to grow as does the refinements. This year you will find the first ever standard Precision Pro Speed Control and the introduction of the optional Power Wedge. The Power Wedge is the first hydrofoil designed for both wake enhancement and the fine tuning of wake shape. The Wakesetter VLX has remarkably positioned itself alone at the top of all pro riding boats being the exclusive towboat of the Wakeboard World Championships, Wakestock of Canada, Collegiate Nationals, Malibu Open and the choice of world champions and professional riders world wide. This year we add the Wakesetter 247LSV, a cab forward designed Sport-V with over 30% more main interior cabin space than any other boat in its class. This boat will steal hearts in your showroom and sales on the water against Mastercraft’s 245 and Tige’s 24V. Malibu’s revolutionary swept forward towers have been designed for greater forward visibility but the look is strictly Malibu. The Illusion X tower is standard and has been redesigned for quick pin breakdown and swing away racks, the Blade will offer customized paint for an even greater expression of personality. Ballast tanks are integrated and can be monitored on select models on the new graphical display on the dash. Standard Precision Pro Speed Control adds a boost in performance and value in every Wakesetter. The Wakesetter Series is easy to position it just becomes a matter of choosing which layout meets their specific needs. No other wakeboard boat in the industry can touch its level of performance, styling and overall quality and value.

PERFORMANCE AND PERFORMANCE FAMILY CLASS
The Response name proceeds itself when the talk turns to the worlds greatest 3-event boats. With twelve world records and 4 Boat of the Year Awards under its belt it was hard to imagine it could get any better. That was until May 15, 2005 when Malibu skier Chris Parrish broke a standing 8-year World Record in slalom running 1 ¼ bouys at 43’ off behind the Response LXi. Proving that this walk thru open bow is not only as good as the closed bow class but so much better the Response LXi became the official towboat of the Malibu Open and U.S. Nationals. It is also the choice of discriminating skiers world wide and is the number one selling 3-event towboat in the world. The fact that the Response LXi doubles as a great family boat makes it that much more compelling. The Response LXi is reserved for aspiring skiers and families that want the highest levels of comfort and world class performance with no compromises.

The Sunsetter LXi is a bit bigger than it’s little brother but boasts a strong pedigree as a formerly validated tournament towboat through USA Waterski. With deeper hull sides and additional seating the Sunsetter LXi becomes a great alternative for the skiing family with a growing interest in boarding disciplines.

RIDE SERIES
The objectives are clear with the Ride Series, knock down the paper houses of Moomba and Centurion or any other boat with questionable value. Consider the facts: Malibu has a proven hull that has pulled the world’s most prestigious wakeboard tournaments, they come standard with multi-port fuel injected engines and Precision Pro Speed Control for increased performance and resale value. Each Ride boat will receive Malibu’s quality craftsmanship and attention to detail. Every Ride will maintain features exclusive to Malibu such as the driver’s lumbar, Wedge and in dash graphical display. While others might sell for less they are no doubt giving less and therefore lose the meaning of value. Many boats the Ride Series will compete with sell for more but they too have far less to offer. This year the Ride series will introduce the Ride XTi perfectly designed for families and riders looking for versatility, value and huge wakes.

NEW STANDARD FEATURES
Precision Pro Speed Control llusion X Tower (Wakesetters & Ride Series)
Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) New Gauges with LED Data Display
Billet Dash Inserts New Z/F Marine V-Drive Transmission
Graphical Dash Display Stainless Cupholders (Opt. on Ride & Response)
New Exterior Vinyl and/or Gelcoat Graphics

MALIBU MARKETING 2006

It has always been Malibu’s philosophy that marketing should not be the focus of our value but to direct the focus to the value of our boats. This year we will continue to use all the resources available to give Malibu dealers the customer pull through they need. We will accomplish this through a highly energized and quality marketing campaign. It is very important that this national marketing message have continuity throughout the dealer network into the grass roots. We have many mediums in place to help but the dealer website should be the main source where dealers will have access to pertinent information relating to Malibu sales & marketing.

THE TOP RUNG!
Sometimes the biggest challenge for the marketing department comes from what message to scream the loudest when some many things are making an impact. So we scream “the boat with incredible value”…..the highest possible quality, proven performance and the most unique features at the most reasonable price. And to back that statement up one merely has to refer to the incredible achievements and performances surrounding Malibu in the last decade. Malibu currently stands number one in world wide sales and was recently named the 2005 Towboat of the Year from Powerboat Magazine, the 4th straight Boat Of The Year Award. In May, Malibu’s Chris Parrish set the World Slalom Record behind the Response LXi shattering a standing 8-year world record. It has been said that the best thing to do with a red hot idea is build a fire under it and Malibu Engineers have obliged. They have been at full throttle introducing revolutionary boats like the XTi and incredible performance features such as this year’s power wedge. Standardizing world class cruise control and multi-port fuel injection are also Malibu firsts and further enhance the value of our boats. We are in an enviable position to ride the wave of momentum in 2006.

So Malibu is offering Throttle by wire now and a standard cruise control?

I guess they're only a year behind MC
Old     (wallyworld)      Join Date: Jan 2003       07-06-2005, 1:23 PM Reply
they are also years apart from disasterRaft in many other areas!
Old    zboomer            07-07-2005, 8:47 AM Reply
Pat, "minor" difference. Malibu will have these features across the entire linup, not just when you get an expensive engine upgrade like MC.

Also, their speed control is full-featured, like a Perfect Pass, not a cut-rate speed control like MC's.
Old    bambamski            07-07-2005, 9:16 AM Reply
How many people that bought a new MC this year paid for the upgraded engine? If you did your negotiation skills suck. My dealer automatically through the engine in and said they aren't selling any boats with the 310 hp this year.

"RIDE SERIES
The objectives are clear with the Ride Series, knock down the paper houses of Moomba and Centurion or any other boat with questionable value. "

Let's start some boat wars as they're kind of fun and i'm really bored at work today. I looked at the V-ride last year and it was a worthless peice of crap. They wanted the 2000 bucks less then what i paid for my boat as well. The dash is cheap, the area where the throttle was cheap, the seats looked cheap, and the stereo was a joke. The only thing it has going for it is the hull. I still say you'd be better off buying a used 02-04 VLX then buying a new V-ride. The fact that Malibu comes out and slams Moomba and Centurian is an absolute joke. Maybe Malibu can buy a new power boat award giving the new ride series XTI the power boat of the year award for this 2006!!

"NEW STANDARD FEATURES
Precision Pro Speed Control llusion X Tower (Wakesetters & Ride Series)
Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) New Gauges with LED Data Display
Billet Dash Inserts New Z/F Marine V-Drive Transmission
Graphical Dash Display Stainless Cupholders (Opt. on Ride & Response)
New Exterior Vinyl and/or Gelcoat Graphics "

So they're offering new cupholders and paint schemes? wow

Does Malibu offer the 5 year bumper to bumper warranty that Correct craft offers on their new 06 line up? What about the life time gelcoat that MC offers? Maybe on their new cup holders right?

Pat, you are really a sour Canadien. Whats wrong, Long winter with no hockey got you a little hot under the collar. By the way, Isnt M/C using the X-2 to make a cheap wake boat?
That would be a damn shame since you just bought one wouldnt it.
Old     (jon_a)      Join Date: Feb 2003       07-07-2005, 12:27 PM Reply
Wow, it shocking to me that part of Malibu's marketing is slamming other companies now. That would turn me off from buying one of their boats any day.
Old     (wakeworld)      Join Date: Jan 1997       07-07-2005, 12:41 PM Reply
Boomer, where did you get that "news release?" The way it's worded it sounds like a marketing piece that was sent out to dealers rather than something directed at consumers.
Old     (seattle)      Join Date: Mar 2002       07-07-2005, 12:52 PM Reply
Looks to me like Tige, and Malibu both see market preference shifting towards the price point boats. I wouldn't be suprised to see MC, and Correct Craft jump on board eventually.

The inflated costs of wake boats these past few years are making the Moomba, Centurion, and Sanger guys look pretty appealing these days.
Old     (guido)      Join Date: Jul 2002       07-07-2005, 1:40 PM Reply
Like Pat said.... Anyone that bought an '05 X2 and paid for the extra motor aint that smart. By the time you add perfect pass to the 315 horse motor it is almost the same price. As for the X2 being a price point boat. It's not...No one is arguing that at MC. Maybe pricepoint compared to the new X. I don't consider 50+ thousand dollar boats to be price point. Now, about that MC cruise.... It works absolutely flawlessly. Not sure what other features you are looking for but I havn't needed any. All of our riders essentially ride the same line length and speed so there isn't any need to program riders names (a la perfect pass). If you need to change speed all you have to do is press the button up or down. Probably takes less time than scrolling through names.

Anyway, rant over. I absolutely love my '05 X2 and would be hard pressed to find a better wake anywhere. That said, I wont bash Malibu either. People out there bashing boat companies generally have had a poor dealer experience (which there are a lot of), or don't know what they are talking about.

David, floating around the other boards (Wakesiderides originally). I think it went out in a packet to dealers, and wasn't supposed to be released, is what I've now read.

I think most are now treating it with a "cat's out of the bag" mentality. Not sure who originally leaked it.

I guess you could remove it if you want, it's not an official release I've now found out.

Plus, I see it's really brought out the people who are jealous of #1. ;) We don't want to upset the types who can read a whole document like that, and come to the conclusion that their biggest change is stainless cup holders, all their changes are marketing, and that they are "behind" MC, lol.

My dads boat can beat your dads boat anyday of the week and twice on sundays :-)

But a good fight is good for the blood...

I agree 100% with jon_a that the knocking of other companies is such a turn off. The companies all seem to do it in marketing materials at some level, but I always find it just as pathetic.

Separately, the wedge descriptions as "Impact Design of the Year" and "Wakeboarding’s Impact Design of the Future" seem a bit unfortunate to me...

Bambam -- your response to the not-so-perfect-must-upgrade MC cruise is not very convincing...

I dont see what the big deal is with Malibu knocking other boats.. Automobile companies do this constantly especially with the truck market.. People who really know what they are buying will filter through the marketing BS and go ride each boat and see which one they like for themselves. I know i dont need someone to tell me what I like.. I will go figure it out for myself.. Oh yea.. Mastercraft's www.the-perfect-wake.com was a knock on other manufactures too.. They all do it!
Old    bambamski            07-10-2005, 9:09 AM Reply
Bobby, I think I would feel the same way about the new X-1, it would be the same thing. I bought a boat that they didn't make into a cheap peice of crap like the V-ride. I'd much rather own an older X-2 with all the bells that some stripped down wanna be... I believe earlier I said I'd rather own a older VLX that they didn't cheap out on in my post didn't I?

To each his own. Everyone markets their boat differently. However there isn't one other boat company that names actual names... If Malibu wants to "knock down the Paper houses" of those companies "with questionable value" they have every right to. I just find it really funny that they can't back it up with their new "ride series".
Old     (cbrown)      Join Date: Jan 2004       07-10-2005, 10:54 AM Reply
Pat, to counter what you said other companies do the exact same thing. In the perfect wake website it uses quotes like: "using a reverse hydrofoil" because we cannot figure out which manufacture uses a reverse hydrofoil, and the "the use of trim tabs" while the look or gel coat pattern of the boat looks exactly like a Tige. Also look at what skiers choice did with one of their ads a while back. It showed a picture of a family in a moomba and a "blurred" image of I believe and X-80 saying that "John" was out enjoying his moomba but the other guy was busy paying for his Mastercraft.

Pat, also I feel the same way about you do as the V-ride and I feel the same way about the new X-1. From what I have heard they are doing the exact same thing as in cutting options to lower the base price then as you stack them on it shoots up just like the v-ride.

the x-1 is not like a v-ride, they are finding other places to cut the costs. vinyl, carpet, stereo, the rear ballast tanks are going to be covered in black plastic no carpet. just small things other than just making more stuff optional and less std.
