How many wakeboarders out there have tattoos? Are tattoos going to take over in the wake world like it has done in Moto X freestyle?

I've got a few and a lot of the people I ride with have them too but I really don't think it's a wakeboarding thing though.

depends on the area of the country. you drive through canyon lake or lake elsinore and everyone has sleeves, personally i have 5 now and will keep goign with them, im only 20 .... many of my friends have tats as well. its just a personal style if you like them you do if not then you dont no big deal, but i see many boarders in the future having them... look at The Vandall or Ricky G. both have some bad ass artwork done on them.

I have two right now. Looking to get my third in a few weeks. As far as it taking over doubt it, people wont go out and get tattoos just because they wakeboard.

I work in a tattoo parlor and no one has ever come in and said that I want a tattoo because a famous wakeboarder or motorcross rider has one. Most people who get tattoos, get them for a reason and not a person.

I have one that I got when I was 18 & had planned on never getting another one. But my closest friends passed away & I feel the need to get soemthing to remember him by. That's what it's about, an external expression of an internal feeling. Tat's are fun and can be incredibly beautiful. Have fun with it.

I have some, but I started getting them before I started wakeboarding. Although, one definitely has to do with it.

I have two and they're both nautical but not necessarily wakeboard. My ankle has an anchor with a rose wrapped around it... and my bottom mid-back has the symbol for water.

I have 6, and they all have meaning. 3 of the 6 have to do with water, and marine animals, but its only because I love the water, and I am a Cancer, which is a water sign. It's more about what statement it makes in your heart, than what others say about it. And no, I don't think it has anything to do with wakeboarding. At least, not anymore than any other sport. I have one on my back in between my shoulder blades. It kind of has to do with wakeboarding, but more of summer time. Mine is a sun about 5 inches around and I got it because all of my great days and memories come from hanging with friends and family under the summers sun.

Mine's kinda like patrick's except the sun is about 8 inches wide & 5 inches tall. It also has a liquid core which is my favorite part. I got it cuz the sun is the center of our universe & in my world water is the center of my universe. It's also located further south & all my friends say I have a chick tattoo. I guess that's why I have it & not them. I don't have any sweet pictures. I'll see what I can do about that. I got one somewhere.

In the first wakeboarding magazine there was a picture of darin shapiro and scott harwood sitting with their ankles showing because they both had these inner tatoos on their ankles...oh, it was so cute! (I'm just kidding...it was just kind of a funny pic). Bruce clem and greg nelso also have some tatoos...for awhile there, these tatoo artists were doing a bunch of board graphics. I know greg morris did a bunch of greg's stuff a long time ago (and maybe a few byerly grafs) and chris mack did a bunch of scott's and cassette's grafs (among others). So whether the riders *actually* get tatooed (sp), many tatoo artists have already left their mark in wakeboarding.

I think it will be pretty amusing to see grannies on the beach 40 years from now with the tribal tats on their leathery lower backs, calling attention to their wrinkly granny butts.

i love tats, i have 2 so far, plan on getting more. The first one was one my mom drew for me, its on my lower back (ofcourse right? haha) and then i just got one while i was in san francisco its a butterfly (another ofcourse, jeez) and its on the back of my ankle right above my achilles. The butterfly one was spur of the moment but its gorgeous!! I cant wait for it to heal. I definately plan on getting more... I found this saying funny from a trainer at my gym i was talking to, "if you treat your body like a temple, why have bare walls?" i completely agree. oh ill post pics once this last one heals. Bobby, My husband and I both got that done last year.... he got it on his shoulder and I have mine in the small of my back. We had it done with a dark blue to light blue fade! I've only seen one other person with that since .... let me know if you get it.

Tat's are right up there with Texas Hold 'em, bad-a$$ choppers, and dozens of other things that are promoted to the "masses" so the sheep of the world can have something to feel good over. most of them all wreak of lameness. tigebob, I actually think that is the japanese symbol for "in touch with my emotions". just look at all the idiots who were being so unique, just like everyone else, that have the "tribal" armband or some other BS like that. too funny to watch these threads anymore. whatever happened to people actually being cool and having some sort of innovation?

Tattoos have become more mainstream than every before. Way more excepted today. Everybody has their own reason. I have one to remember all the firefighters that lost there life in the Twin Towers and one for love, pain, suffering, death, and for the king of kings and my kids names. I have seen tattoos that I didn't like but saying they are "lame" isn't that cool. Besides I don't let people on my B52 unless they have tatts. J/K. If you like tatts then get one. That's all I got to say about that. Board More/ Work Less J$

John Boy, I could not agree more with you. Tattoos have definitely lost there "edge" for a lack of a better word. but knocking someone for their choice of tats is "lame". more power to the people who have the "balls" to sit under the hand of someone, and take thousands of puncture wounds into their skin, all in the name of self expression.

i have to agree with vandal and gbphantom. it seems like they are a fashion accessory. can you be 'cool' in cali without tattoos? i know it is not isolated strictly to that region, but it is especially evident to an outsider. While I say that, the wakeboarding tattoos on this page show extreme dedication to the sport, and thats pretty cool. and while i am at it, whats up with forgetting to shave right below your mouth, kill the flavor savers please!
