I'm thinking about trading in my 2015 Tundra for a 2017 Ford Super Duty. Anyone have experiences with the new trucks? Reliability seems to be pretty good from what I can see. Its overkill for towing my Sanger V215 but eventually I would like to put a cab over camper on and be able to tow the boat. If I do that I am then in a debate over buying an F250 or an F350. I think the F250 is better on the day to day. Any thoughts? I'm probably looking at either the Lariet or Platinum

All said I am happy with mine and its a proven engine. Go 250 if you do not need to handle additional load and you can air down the tires when empty to soften the ride.
The biggest annoyance on my 2017 is the leaking panoramic sunroof. The front drains cannot keep up with a downpour if the truck is on a slight decline. Its a known issue that Ford should have fixed. So if you get one avoid the sunroof. If you do any towing it is an absolute pleasure. The stereo is a bit weak in performance as well.
You can equip the Lariat with most the Platinum options and save some real money if your ego can handle the less ostentatious badge.

I've never heard of the panoramic sunroof leaking. That's been one of the selling features to me and must to get.. I have been liking the platinum because I love the seats and the color matched bumpers. I'm really disappointed there is no sport option in the lariat to ditch the chrome.

Go the F150 forum when they switch to aluminium, there are plenty of comments/complaints about it. The answer from Ford is that it is within the spec or tolerance margin as far as I remember. Yeah the spec on a truck is not the same than on a sedan. People should not be surprised

I have a 2017 F 250, purchased it in April and have over 40k miles on it.
So far I could not be happier, very smooth ride and not problems yet. I have the panoramic sunroof and have not had any leaks, even in numerous downpours.

Your comment is right on the money: trucks margin for assembly are higher than for sedans, which means some panoramic roof will leak some will not, depending on which truck did you get out of the manufacturing plant: one on the low side of the spec or one on the high side of the spec.

Well I did it, I bought a new leftover 2017 f250 platinum 4x4 crew cab. Two days in and I love this truck. So happy to get rid of the tundra. That will be my last Toyota. It's amazing that this huge 3/4 ton drives so much nicer than the tundrs that's a half ton

I just bought a f150 with the panoramic roof. I hope those are isolated issues. Kids sure loved it in the rockies last weekend though.

I got an early 2017 F250 in September 2016 was one of the first off the train's in NorCal. It's been a fantastic truck no issues but I do have a few thoughts after a year of ownership.
I upgraded from a 2013 F150 EcoBoost
Comments:
Whoever designed the hood didn't drive it in a rain storm in stop and go traffic. Water splashes up on the windshield at every stop.
The rancho FX4 shocks suck!.. I pulled them off after about 5000 miles and swapped to a set of Fox 2.0 shocks.
I had my LSV 23 behind my F250 and hit a bunch of bumps coming down the grade and steering / control was horrendous (no rebound) in the FX4 shocks so off they went.
Turning on the bed lights should be on the key fob. It's silly to have to drop open the driver door push the light button then go to the bed and load at night.
The leather (be it I have a platinum) isn't all that great

I don't know what model you got, but on the Lariats and up at least (I have a Lariat), there is a button in the bed area, on the left side, to turn on the bed lights.

I have a 16 f150 platinum with panoramic roof. I've never had a leak and I live in eastern North Carolina where it down pours constantly. You will read about it on the f150 forum, but in the grand scheme that is a very small number that have had the leaks, but what do people do on forums? they bitch about problems.

Do you guys have a picture of this button? I just watched the "light" video on the 2017 f250 and they didn't highlight it nor do I see one.

Just so you know your truck isn't designed to go over 55 mph
"if you want a race car buy a F-150" craziest thing I have ever heard.

Craziest part of that whole convo is the tech expecting the owner to actually believe that. "If you want to go fast buy an F150" fast doesn't start at 55mph lol. Most would consider that 90+
My 05 cruises just fine at 80-85

One thing I have found with my f150 is the ecoboost sucks gas above 65. I think a v8 may have been a better choice. I think the v6 has to work much harder at higher speeds than the v8 would.

Agree that the ecoboost starts to suck gaz a lot around 65 mph. But below those speeds, it is like a hybrid

I've got the F150 with the Panoramic and mine doesn't leak. Every once in a while when it's hot it gets a rattle that is very annoying, but it goes away usually once you open and close it. If you want to know if the one you want to buy leaks, go through an automatic carwash. Problem solved! Agree this is probably a useless option if you don't have kids. My kids love it and it's the one thing we miss on my wife's car when she went from Explorer to Highlander.

Especially when a 150 with ecoboost gets 13 on the highway. My Pano doesn't leak either and the kids love it. If it did, it would be right back at the dealer.

On flat open highway I have done this with mine and the engine only has 3000 miles on it so its not even broken in yet.

Is that lifted or leveled? 35's?
We have the exact same truck except mine is 250 instead of 350. Ruby red platinum. I plan on leveling it with 35's.

I had a new Ford F150 Ecoboost with the 3.73 Gear Ratio when I purchased my Nautique G21 and it pulled the boat 'OK' but had a helluva time stopping it. My rear shocks starting having issues and instead of getting airbags and not towing safely, I traded in for a new 250 Diesel. The difference is night and day and more than worth it.
The 250 is also my daily driver. Fortunately, my office is only 6 miles from my house so I am not burning too much diesel fuel. Either way, it's totally worth the bigger more capable truck to be safe on the road. For your sake and others...depending on your towing weight.
If I recall correctly, a V215 is around 3,000lbs dry weight, so you should be fine with a F510, if you go with the camper, you'll definitely want the F250 or F350.

Your right I have nothing to be upset about. However, if you really want the sunroof no worries only a few of them leak.

Yea, 10 days at the dealer and they cannot get the sunroof to stop leaking. Not sure what this means.
