Interior looks great. Driver's helm looks awesome too , Love the minimalistic look. Still not sold on the space of the cockpit yet , but haven't been in one so that may change. Quick fill ballast ballast with dual pumps per tank is a nice addition. Overall it's been long overdue and I hope it performs as it should.
I have seen lot of interior pics floating around with very "loose" vinyl and lines that really don't square up , Not sure if that's a trade off to the cool touch vinyl or what's going on there , but it's little concerning for a tier 1 boat.
|
They dropped the length on the new star. It's not 24' anymore (with a tiny cockpit), it's a 23 footer now. I think the cockpit area looks about normal size for a 23 footer. Same with the bow.
The two black and red boats are pre production and testing units. They didn't dial in the upholstery perfect on them. Plus, they both have cool feel vinyl, and that stuff doesn't stretch as tight as the rest of their vinyl choices. It stays really nice and does settle in, but is usually a little wrinkled when new, in some places. The grey boat is the first actual production unit, and there should be more pics of that boat showing up soon......

Is Bob Soven riding for Mastercraft now? If so, when did he switch from Nautique? I have the 2017 Nautique catalog and I'm pretty sure he is in a few of the photos.

Correct, about a month ago I think. Check the "Who is MC dropping next" thread, it was mentioned there

Not sure about new levels, didn't Parks land a double mobe back in 2011? With these new wakes can we please get a Speed Ball!?!? Why hasn't anyone but Shapiro done this trick?
Don't get me wrong, super impressive stuff, love seeing these guys hitting double ups again!

Here are some pics I snapped last week. I was lucky enough to spend a solid 2 hours in the Charcoal / White XStar... Loads of fun driving and riding this boat!

That is a sweeeeet boat, but I can only imagine how miserable that black interior is in the middle of summer. Either way, looks awesome!

The black interior is legitimately cooler than a traditional white of older boats.

That's cool feel black...... stays cooler in the sun than white regular vinyl. Had it in my last MC, and then went to a G23 with white interior, and it was much hotter than the MC cool feel black. Pretty cool stuff. Pun intended.

What's up with that surf wake? Not exactly matching the "not photoshopped" wave that Parks posted on his instagram.

ha, that might not have been photoshopped, but the angle was generous.

In his post on TT, he said he was running the mellow setting. That's gonna make the wave longer, and less steep. That wave is definitely super long. Parks photo was definitely taking advantage of angle too.

^Well that wave looks SICK!!
Does Mastercraft offer a surf remote where the rider can switch port to starboard? How long does the transition take whether the driver or the rider does it?

Again. Phone is low. Rider is short.
Wave looks great, still. Just saying that angles and rider sizes play into how we see it on the computer screen. Vs the previous pic where the camera is up high and the rider looks taller (even though he's squatted down).

MC does not offer a surf remote. But they have a button on the dash that the driver can press to switch sides on the fly. Onec the driver presses the button, it takes about 5 seconds.

Yes, the phone is obviously on the sunpad. In the goofy-side picture above, the phone is clearly standing above the sunpad, providing a different angle. I was simply comparing the 2 pictures posted in this thread. Never once did I say the wave is not good.
Apparently you missed:

Wait til this guy finds out we've moved on to discussing his pecker size. Also I heard his pecker is so big it has it's own pecker.

I'm glad TeamTalk is still a good and active forum cause damn this place is negative to anything MasterCraft related. I used to check WakeWorld 3x a day and haven't checked it for over a year until the Star was released. Negativity just was too much.

32" draft. Hope everyone has plenty of depth around their docks! I would be able to get within 30' of our boat house with this thing!

can you get any inboard to your dock? Most don't draft quite that much but are pretty close, especially sacked out.

Supra rider here.
Stock to stock that wake feels almost exactly like an SA (which is a very good thing). Did the Star change the game? No, it just brought them back to where the rest of the industry is. Nice shape, nice size, super clean.

^This.....
A 31" draft is about average for a wake boat. Centurions and MBs are a couple inches deeper, Malibu is a couple inches shallower, except the M235, which is 32"......etc.... Most are drafting 28-36. 31 isn't that bad. Especially for a boat with an 18" prop.

Yes I can, park our Mojo there and parked our LSV there before that. Our LSV drafted 24" and I think the Mojo drafts 26". Where my inlaws lake house is has a very shallow angle of departure from shore. The end of the boat house is in maybe 28-30" of water and it's about 140' from shore. This kind of give you an idea of the distance from shore we had to go to get around 2'.

Draft on the Mojo is 28".....
So, 3" is your definition of a huge difference in draft.......hopefully your lake never has waves, and you don't ever have to carry passengers.

It's listed at 27.5" so I was off 1.5" but that's still 4.5" difference. Not huge but for some of our water ways significant enough. Especially toward the end of the summer and early fall when the levels start to decline.

Never damaged one docking. It's all silt/sand bottom and very soft and I'm not sure how much dredging would do. Unless you dredged the whole cove it would just fill back in I would assume.
