I'm new to wakeboarding (2 years) but I'm ready to purchase my own gear. I've been using my brother-in-laws CWB 143 with closed toe boots about 1 size, maybe 2 sizes too big.
Me:
40 years old, 5'10" 185 pounds, athletic.
Skill: I just accomplished my first wake to wake last trip out. I have been on the board maybe 20 times in two years for less then an hour each time. I ride right foot forward, I can switch while riding, but haven't really done anything switch beside back an forth inside the wake.
Boat: 2002 Supra Launch
Lake: Small deep body lake in Vermont, very cold water, tends to be a little choppy unless you go out at 6am.
So I'm looking for a boat board that i can progress my learning but ideally never grow out of. I did try an older hyperlite 142 board with open toe 1 time and liked it much better. It just felt lighter and easier to control. I was able to Oli it with ease were as with the CWB it feels suction cupped to the water.
I like that Slingshot is made in the USA, big selling point with me.
The hyperlite system bindings seem like a good idea. Also, after riding one that one time, it has made me a little more interested in getting a hyperlite.
Thanks, for reading all of that, I hope to get some great feedback from you all.
