One of my buddies has a red xstar that has had fading paint. He told me last night that he found something to bring the paint back to life--mayonnaise. Helmans not required he said, the cheaper the better. Sounds sort of pulp fictionish, but I am thinking of trying it.

There is vinegar in it that may work for water spots or oxidation, and then there's some grease for way. Still it sure sounds like a smelly proposition.

White petroleum jelly will do more. Put it on when it's hot.
I should mention that it does not go nearly as well with lettuce.

the best mix to bring the shine back is actually 1/2 cup mustard, 1/4 cup mayonnaise, 2 teaspoons of horseradish, couple cloves of garlic, and 2 shots of wheat grass. Heat to 165 degree internal temperature, then wipe all over the boat, and anybody who will be on the boat that day.

An apple a day keeps the Doctor away.
A garlic a day keeps everyone away.

First, cover it so that doesn't happen or even better keep it inside. A good polish with 3M finesse it will most likely bring it back if it's not that old. Might need to step up to a first round of heavy compond if that doesnt work. I have a hard time believing a red Xstar would need wetsanding, coul t be older that a 99. Then a couple of coats of Collonite Fleetwax twice a year to keep it from happening again. Mayo will be gone after the first dip in the lake.

Actually during bug season you would want him about 100 yards away from you ... you'd be bug free

Yea, makes a big difference. Red gelcoat is gonna respond better to ketchup. Where yellow paint does better with mustard. And green gelcoat does great with, yep, pickle relish.
