Currently looking to purchase a boat. I'm from canada and seems the prices are stupid. After doing some reading I was really interested in the Axis A20 hearing the mid 40's price tag. Went and priced one out in canada 60+tax. Any tips for the canadian boat buyer where to look etc? lately i've just been browsing kijiji looking for a good boat.
Couple boats I may be interested in.. Thoughts

No ballast or perfect pass.

can get for 25k

direct drive dont like the look of tower.
Basically looking for a good watersports boat that is capable of decent wakeboarding with friends. Any boats i should be on the lookout for? or stay away from. Was looking to spend on used boat about 20-30k.
Thanks and look forward to posting more on this site.

I was in a similar position last fall. My budget was 20-30k (US). In that price range for low-hour boats in great condition I found quite a few:
2004-2007
Centurion Elite V
Supreme 208
Moomba Outback V
Moomba LSV (around 30k usually)
With higher hours and older I found some
X-stars
Vrides
I ended up looking at some new Sangers and was impressed but ended up finding a used 2004 V210 for 23k. It had 110 hours on it and is in perfect condition. It only had front ballast and no perfect pass. I paid another $1k for the perfect pass (going to finish installing it today). It's a V-drive which I highly recommend over a direct drive for wake boarding. Wake is killer, I couldn't be happier.

Out of those three boats the decision would be simple. The SAN 210, you can always add ballast and PP. Forget the other two you would be insane to spend that much on a DD.
I'm not sure how available they are to you in Canada but you might want to look at some Sangers. You can always find some really nice Sangers in that price range.

Brendon, you are absolutely right about Canadian prices being stupid. It all comes down to we pay more for the new boats then what the states does. Up here people think their 07 Mailbu is worth $ 55k or more while down in the states you can find them for low to mid 40's. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a boat from the states and have it brought up. With the internet and the amount of people on this board from all around the US you could probably find a person locally to go check the boat out for you and take a bunch of photos. The company where we bought our boat from that's all he does is import boats up from the states. Put a tower on them if they don't have one and flip'em.

Thanks for the replies. I was thinking about buying a boat from the states but dont want to have to drive 30+ hours just to be dissapointed when I end up looking at the boat. Plus the cost to drive down the time off work etc. Dave what company did you buy your boat from? May have to look at them as i have friends and family in bc. Lots of talk about the sangers and there is a dealer i believe in calgary alberta, But it seems through my shopping you wont find a v-drive for under 30k .
After reading the net I may look at the Nautique Super Sport 210 for $32,000 with 200 hours. The owner has owned the boat since 2008 and imported from seattle. Thats on the higher end of my price range but just cant seem to find anything here in canada.

This is the site Brendon. http://www.extremeboatsport.com/
Some dealers have used boats but not many and are usually a bit more expensive then private. There is Performance watersports in Langely which is a Malibu Dealer. Tige ( Redline) in Chilliwack, Nautique ( Enzos Inboards) in Richmond, and Mastercraft ( Tournament Boats) in Abbotsford where I live. There is also a malibu dealer in Kelowna, and a Moomba/Supra dealer their somewhere. I believe there are a couple different dealers in Alberta as well. Regardless you will pay more up here and would probably be hard pressed to find a VDrive for under 30k. You may have to push that up to $ 35k or so. Good luck.

I think the Super sport is priced well. If you told me you could get a loaded 05 SAN for 32-35(with 1500 for ballast and 1500 for PP) I would say you are getting a solid deal.

It is a 2006 v215 wake series 3 ballast, perfect pass, 150 hrs, and can get it for 28k. keep in mind this is canada where prices tend to be higher.
Comes with tanden trailer, wakeboard surfboard ropes 7 life jackets.

Great boat, great price. I have never heard of a disappointed Sanger owner. Seriously solid boats that do all the "core" boat functions excellently.

Just a quick update ended up buying the 2006 sanger v215. Took for a quick test drive and had a dealer go thru it and test run and everything seemed to check out. Will be taking the boat out friday hoping everything works great. Just needs a little tlc from sitting in a marina all summer but other than that looks to be in good shape.

Did you get this one? If so how was it dealing with that dealership? Did you have them go through it or a different dealer?

i hate to say it but the best advice i can give is buy what you want but only if you have dealer support (and choices) near you, or expect to drive and drive to find the support you need. All boats need help from service dealers, so if you lack support, you will not enjoy your choice down the line.

Thanks for your advice but being from northern saskatchewan canada there is not many boat dealers or boats availiable. There is a supreme boat dealer in my town which have the same motors/ drivetrain, who said they would not have a problem servicing this boat. I wanted to find a good boat for a good price and i feel that is what i found
