Switch 22 for Shapiro's opening part.
Shafted for Parks' two sections.
Global Warning for overall riding and production. It's perfect, each rider with a good long section and they all rip!

I gotta say Boombox. There are lots of great movies out there, but that one is still my favorite. Not to hate on movies that have come out after that, but there is something to having a soundtrack that is not trying to outshine the riding.

Wow, in before Gravity Sucks.
I'm shocked (not kidding - I am actually shocked) that Gravity Sucks isn't on here yet.
Gravity Sucks by a mile here, for me. In this case the first ever was also the best ever (in terms of relative impact).
My style of riding completely changed course due to it. It changed the 5 of us entirely in my riding crew, and I know it seems like hyperbole but it’s the God’s honest truth. It’s not that we wanted to be copycat social chameleons or rip these people off, but they were doing things we’d never think of on our own – like 180 nose bonks over a dock. Hell, anything involving hitting a dock blew our minds. It was just all so different than what we ever had experienced. We presumed that inverted tricks would be getting more technical. But that's about all we ever predicted. Gravity Sucks demonstrated that there could be a whole new branch of the sport - one that has more in common than snowboarding than trick skiing. That happened.
Little stuff. Nelson would do a 3 and land wrapped - he'd spin and sort of advance on the rope. That alone had the crew on my lake amazed. We just came to the conclusion that he saw the rope & handle not as part of the setup, but an obstacle. Something that he just had to contend with, so he'd do a spin and pass the handle when he got around to it, but no rush. It was so obvious that he had come from snowboarding. I know we go back & forth on here about how wake is perceived outside of the sport, but it definitely put us on the map and demonstrated what's possible.
Needless to say, it influenced my lake an incredible amount.

How 'bout How to Ride a Wakeboard? All the great grandfathers of he sport doing amazing stuff with no tower, poles or high end equipment. Pretty amazing considering the time. If you have not see it. Track it down. I put mine on DVD a long time ago so could go back to it from time to time.

Detention Vol 1 and 2. You can't go wrong with the goofy sketches and classroom scenes and it does give you some positive stuff to think about while riding. Also you can quote that video all summer long. EXACTLY.

Jason Buffalow,
'How To Ride A Wakeboard' was the first Wake video I purchased and it is what got me hooked on the sport. I have never heard any one else mention it. It was amazing what Byerly and Gator were doing back then. I remember back in the day just wanting to buy a Flight 69 and to ride like Gator.

Lots of good ones out there!
What is the name of the video that has old footage of Byerly with long hair thrashing to some hard metal and in one of the scenes he jumps a buoy and cuts the top off of it?? Was that Gravity Sucks?
Linear Perspective, Sfumato, Boombox, The Faction, Free4All, Asterisk, Prepop, Counterfeit This, Relentless...Man if you like wakeskating, you have to see Linear Perspective. I still want to throw in the towel after I watch Sfumato.

If you love wakeboarding and appreciate the history, you need to own the Spray, Hit-it, Mayday three-pack DVD.
The transition between Spray and Hit-it is awsome. From all directionals to all twins in less than a year (except for Byerly and Gator they had the 69 early).

Ok fine.
I already said Gravity Sucks wins by a mile, for me, but I am old.
In an attempt to be slightly more modern, I'll add that Mayday is an absolute must-have and so is Hit It.
But especially Mayday. Murray's part, Gator's part. OMG.
Didn't think some of it was possible - I really didn't. Amazing. Murray- wow. I think we watched Murray's entire part in slow motion once. Watched his part like 10-20 times I bet. At least.
