I'll probably end up starting a few of these threads as I'm trying to find a good deal on something used as this season ends...within 120 miles of Cleveland, OH. Theres plenty of good info in other posts and I've already elliminated a few options b/c of them. I couldn't find any info on these, so wondering if anyone can give opinions on the wake for these two boats:
1991 Nautique Excel
1998 Supra Comp

i had a 1992 nautique excel it had a great wake but needs weight to compete with todays wakeboard boats. a little of a slow turning boat also. only 1 center fin because it was v-drive with semi v rear.

Robert- were you able to hide all the weight or was it laying out on the floor? I like that its a v-drive but dont want to take up all that space trying to make the wake big.

you have 2 compartments beside the engine to hide weight . i had a closed bow so i could hide weight up front also the passenger seat lifted to expose just about all that area except a squared off area under the dash.the open bow model had a playpen enclosed cushioned area up front.my boat didn't have a tower,but you could use a extend a pole or aftermarket tower.

Yea the one I'd be looking at is closed bow and I'd definitely put a tower/racks on it. How many lbs. did it take to make the wake decent? I'm coming from the ski nautique 2001 and am tired of not having anywhere to step with the floor covered w/ fat sacs.

250 on each sid of the engine and a 400 lb sac in the bow. but you could get 2 350 lb sacs for engine and fill them most of the way to have true 60/40 split as is recommended.

Brock, there was a fellow who converted one. Cool project but only if you're into restorations and that type of work. By the time the conversion is done I'd imagine it'd be a lot of money towards a vdrive. Though if you had a 2001 that you were doing stringers and floors anyway... Mostly just time and cost of the vdrive trans, shaft, etc.I suppose, since you have a clean slate anyhow.

Wasn't the Correct Craft Barefoot Nautique a V-Drive with the 454?

yep. I think that and the Excel are the only v-drive boats from CC in the 80's. The bottom profile of the barefoot is different from the 2001 though.

I'm starting to think that it was only the Excel that was a V-drive. All the BF ones that I have seen were 454 only and had the more V-shape compared to 2001.

Yep, barefoots are all DD,If you want a faster 2001 with not as good of a wake, accept no substitute!

yea aj that is just like my 92 and they did offer the barefoot then in a v-drive but everyone i knew said the excel with the pro boss 351 w/275 hp was the bomb.i had the pro boss and it was better for barefooting because it had a better holeshot but only would do 51 mph top speed the barefoot would do 55. i barefooted at 40 so i didn't care i mostly kneeboarded and skied back then.
