I have a 2003 GMC Yukon that is a 2WD, and has a little over 100k miles on it. I recently upgraded my boat from a 2001 Sanger to a 2007 Malibu VTX, which obviously weighs significantly more. I tow my boat approximately 150 miles round trip to the lake, and encounter a pretty steep grade on the way there. Anyway, my truck seems to be struggling a bit more while towing the boat, especially up the grade. I currently have flowmasters and a K&N air filter, but have been contemplating the purchase of a chip or air intake system. My obvious/ideal solution would be to upgrade to a newer F250 or 2500 Silverado, but the truck is paid for, and I would like to use it for as long as possible. Any recommendations as to whether the chip or air intake system would be more effective, and which brand should I go with? Also, would it even make much difference at this point? Thanks in advance.
