get some kinetics 2400's and you will be set. I run 5 amps all JL slash series a 1000/1, a 450/4, 2 x 300/2 and a 300/4. I am powering 2 Wetsound 485's, 2 JL 10W3's 1 JL 12W7 and 6 JL 7.7 components. I have 3 batts right now (i am in the middle of a rebuild) and I usually can run my stereo for 4-5 hrs with the boat off at near full tilt. The batts also are powering 4 fans to cool the amps and a Wetsounds 420. I also have an onboard charger so after each use I plug the boat in at the storage unit and it is good to go the next time I go out. They run about $500 a shot but will supply large amounts of power.

Tom, what type of batteries do you have now? Are you looking to replace all the batteries? How do you have them hooked up currently?

Sam, care to explain your hype comment?

I currently have 2 Wetsounds Pro 80s, Kicker L7 15" sub, Polk db650s, a JL Slash 1000/1, and 'ok' two rockford amps to power the wetsounds and polks.

I have two Optima bluetops and am looking for a solution to be able to play fulltilt all day. Kinetik's seems like a good choice to me ... would love to hear other critics about it...

Check out this thread. I list some specs and options. There are a quite a few different options. I have no personal experience with the kinnetics but they are crazy expensive.

Clayton,

Anyone who has used them will tell you they work well. I don't know why Sam would say they are hype. They are expensive, but with most things in life you get what you pay for. Notice he didn't want to answer the question....exactly. He is just spouting off.

I have 2 batteries from costco. I know there not that great. there hooked up to a perko switch. 1 for the stereo and 1 for starting. but with all those amps i wont be able to run the music for a long time. some suggestions on what other types of batteries and what specs to look for that will best suit my system.

I used 2 Stinger SP1500D's in mine with 3 amps and they'll play all weekend, plus some the next weekend without re-charging.

Funny story. My brother inlaw owns a company that is a direct battery importer. He showed me his website and I compared them to the Kinetik batteries. They were the same but half price. He told me that being a direct dealer he can cut out the middle man and you get the battery for what Kinetik pays instead of paying their markup. Tempestbatteries.com

John you must mean all weekend with the boat running. The stinger has a 68ah rating, the optima blue top has a 55ah rating. I have 4 optima blue tops for my stereo on my boat. You have 2 of the stinger 68 ah batteries. I have a JL 1000/1, JL 300/4, and JL 450/4 running my system and only get 4-5 hours playtime cranked with motor off. This is after completely charging the batteries the night before. My batteries are fine, they've been tested.

If I remember correctly you have a similar amp setup in your boat and you're saying you can go all weekend plus some. Pretty hard to buy it that.

Nope, not running. I've got 3 Kenwood amps that probably don't draw near the current that the JL's do. They're coming out next week and being replaced with Wet Sounds amps, so we'll see if those batteries still last. I'm adding a dedicated boat battery this time and using the 2 Stingers for stereo only.

Must of been a different John I was thinking of. Anyways the wetsounds may actually draw less current than your current setup. You'll soon see anyways.

I've done several installs with the Stingers in my boat and in other customer's boats. Not saying that they are better than any other battery out there, but this is what I have experience with.

My last boat had 1 SP1700 that ran the 496mag (Baja boat). The stereo consisted of 1 Kicker ZX800.2, and 1 Kicker ZX550.2. I could get several days of playtime out of that one also. Most of the other boats that I've installed those batteries on have been great for keeping charge.
