I will trading in a fully loaded 2005 Malibu VLX with Hammerhead motor (400HP) and 240 Hours on it. The dealer has offered $35,000 CAN as trade money. I think this is quite low!

I need to decide if I want a 09 VLX or 09 23' LSV. I would love your opinions on the differences of these two boats!

Also is it worth it to upgrade to the bigger motor in each boat? hammerhead in the VLX, 8.1L in the LSV. Opinions welcome! Are they that much worse on gas?

I think if you are use to the hammerhead in the VLX you will want that and I can't imagine you need the 8.1L in the LSV. That is a little low maybe. You are heading into the long offseason and you are from Canada so the dealer won't be able to sell the boat for another 6 months probably. Also he has to be able to make money on you trade in. Remember, since you are trading the boat in if he gives you 35k you get a tax credit on that 35k. That is assuming you guys have sales tax. A 2005 VLX with hammerhead is probably worth about 45 right now in Seattle. I would see if you can get closer to 40k for your boat.

Cliff, I don't think you understood his email. He is trading in an 05 for an 09.

They may not have tax credit in his province or in Canada at all.

From what I have seen here on the board the VLX looks pretty amazing and would be tough to be disappointed in.

In my honest opinion as I have driven all of these....

340 Monsoon with Acme 1235 in a VLX is plenty. I have a VLX, Hammerhead with Acme 1235 and it is more than enough.

An 8100 motor in a 23LSV is frickin awesome. The shear amount of torque is amazing.

Ryan another member and I took out the 09' vlx last weekend and he wrote a review on the boat. Tomorrow we will be taking out the 09' lsv and I will be writing a review on it by monday or so. Look for these and feel free to ask questions.

The HH is all you need in the 23, the 8.1 is a freakin gas hog.

You think thats low. The local Mastercraft dealer here had the audacity to offer me $33,400 on a 2006 super air 220. i have never been so insulted. i fully understand that if they sell me a boat at a close out price they are gonna try to rape me on my trade but c'mon, at least the orlando dealership said they were not taking trades instead of thinking i would just give my boat away.

Thanks for the input guys/gals!!!

Yes we have sales tax(7%) so I would save $2,450 buy trading in. I still think the trade in Value is way too low.

It is good to know that my boat sell's for around $45,000. I will check out some website's to c what it's worth.

Nu Bu, I read your review on the VLX and it had alot of good info in it. I will be looking forward to the LSV wright up. Can you email copy's of the price sheet of the VLX/LSV 09 boats you are trying out? I want to compare Canadian prices to USA prices.

It looks like VLX base boat prices have gone up by $9,323 from 2005 to 2009

The HH motor has gone up $2,235 from 05 to 09.

Yes we save sales tax as well on a trade in but that is a plus for us not an incentive for a dealer to justify giving you nothing for your boat.
