hey, ive got a 99 robalo center console, i cant fit a tower on the big lug....ive spent the whole summer hitting the wake and cant seem to get any higher then about 4-5 feet of air. i pull the line from about the water line from a hook on the boat.

do you guys think thats what im gonna max out at? does the tower make all teh difference? getting frustrated charging the wake and not clearing the wake.

this video of Byerly pretty much shows you don't need a big wake or a tower, just some talent.

Ah - every time that post surfaces an angel gets its wings. I need to post the high-quality version of that soon. Or sell it :-)

Yes Larry - some things to consider:
do you have a zero stretch line?
are you pulling from the center of the transom or from one hook on the side. If you can make sure these items are in order, I think you can progress.

Are you clearing the wake?
Can a custom tower be made for your boat? Because while Byerly is Byerly, you're not Byerly and I'm not Byerly and towers help non Byerly's like us. They really do. But I'd argue that no stretch lines help more. I weigh in on that whole "what comes first" debate here:

hey erik, i picked up a zero stretch line about 3 weeks ago, i was using my dads ski line from about 35 years ago, no joke. he met my mom while skiing before my first brother was born, who is now 32. so literally 35 year old ski line. but i noticed a HUGE difference with the new Liquid force Envy line.

second, i am pulling from a cleat on the starboard side, about a foot from the water.

third, i have cleared the wake 2 or 3 times in the past week. im gettin pulled from a 25 foot center console, with an 8.5 foot beam.

the wake is pretty sloppy and unpredicatable. its wide and it crumbles at the top, no clean wake from boat to end of line. at first i rode with my line fully intact, like 80 feet. now im riding at 60 cuz the wake is lesswide at that point. still messy though.

thank you guys for your help, i really appreciate it. i read the article, im gonna see if i can get a custom made pylon for the back. ive already looked into all the towers and they dont work with my boat.

A pylon should do the trick.
