If you only have one screw in the fin it won't do a very good job of directing the water flow. Probably just end up flailing all over the place, it needs to be solid. You could drill new holes, but that's a pretty nasty way to go, especially if your board is new. You'd probably need to seal them somehow to stop the core from getting screwed up by leaks too. I think the Lyman has a set up where you can move the fins forward or backward. I would guess the further back you have them mounted the more torque they would produce. Not too sure...
