I need to get a high ouput alternator for a '98 PCM Ford 351. The more amps the better. Where can I find a high output marine alternator? Anyone done this already? Thanks!
I got a great guy in AZ but only know where he lives. The guys at Paradise Watersports of AZ use him too. They may have his #. I did 2 last season one for me and one for a buddy. 120 amp high output, worked great.
i had a guy in detroit build me a 140 amp marine replacement alt for my 2001 SAN. i gave him the # off my existing alternator and he crossreferenced it and built me one that fit perfectly. i paid $149 for it. its one of these numbers: 954.921.7833 or 954.374.0221 or 586.773.2089.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Make sure you do not use a standard automotive alternator. I don't want to ready any horror stories about an engine compartment exploding.
I understand that I can't get much over 110 amps on a single belt, and not even that if I stay with 3/8" belt. Where would be the place to go to get info on converting to a two belt system, or at least upgrading from 3/8" to 1/2"?
I am going to be running 5 fairly large amplifiers with multiple (haven't decided how many) batteries.
