Just got my hands on my first ws-420 and got it installed in an X-star super nice. It great to have this much control, as long as the consumer understands what distortion does to speakers.

Hey Sigmodes, can you elaborate on that? I am about to put a WS 420 into my boat. I am running 4x75 into 4 alpine 6.5s, 800 mono into a 12 inch kicker CVR, and a zapco 500 x 2 into a pair of NVS entity 1010s.

He probably means you need to know what clipping and distortion sounds like so you know when to turn it down.

I am a little curious as to his meaning also. Steve-That would apply with or without the 420?
SM- Can you clarify

Knowing when you have drivers playing clipped or distorted signals is always applicable.

With any eq/line driver it's very easy to overdrive the input stage on an amp, thus causing clipping. I'm still amazed at the people who are using eq's and constantly changing the settings...it's very easy to blow speakers doing this. It's well know that after extended time listening to music at high volume , you'll need to turn it up just a little louder to "hear" at the same perceived level. The easy adjustment is in the eq, w/o you don’t; runt hat risk.

EQ’s are commonly known as “noisemakers” that can induce or pickup all kinds of noise in sterol systems…even when properly installed. I’ve seen instances where the sensitivity level of an eq does not match that of the HU and it starts picking up noise due to the difference.

Picked up my boat last night after getting my spring service done and 420 install. Let me tell ya the 420 is amazing! so much control and versatility but still simple to use.

Shane. The install looks great, even better in person.

Now we just need some weather to try it out on the the lake.

Sam said exactly what I would have said. Ill just add this, 90% of amps cant handle 12v of in-put. Its more like 5v so make sure when you are installin the 420 you get the line driver setting right. The other part in which Im talking about is the 4 setting on the right. You turn these two much one way and you can blow up your speakers in a hurry.
