so i am set on one these boats, the wake, fit finish, price, STYLE, and did i mention the wake, is perfect. i am looking to pick one up in the next few months and was wondering if it is really worth it to spend a few bucks more and get a newer one with the smaller gunwale? i live on the water in florida so boating and riding is a huge part of my life year round. but if it isn't that big if a deal i would like to save money if at all possible. please let me know your thoughts on this. thanks jimmy

What year are you looking at, 1999-2001 or 2002-2006? -Uj

I have a 95 Supersport 210... I wouldn't change a thing... I like it more than the newer ones because of the full wrap seating

I also have a 97 supersport and like it because of the wrap around seating. The wide gunwales cut down a little on the interior room but make really nice steps and are easy to walk on and balance on when putting boards up and down from the racks. I don't see a big draw back to that. I would like to have a 3 piece rear deck, I'm not sure when they started actually making the SAN if they had split decks then or not.

I had a 1997 SuperSport, a 2000 SAN and a 2006 SAN and I liked the last one the best for interior space. Wakewise it didn't differ, but you've got a little more room in the 2002+ 210's. Also the straight transom is nice. I would certainly go for a 3 piece rear deck (from 2001), but in the end only the wake matters, so if I only could afford a '95 SuperSport I would be equilly happy with it compared to a '06 210.

I think the extra space is worth the cost of getting a 2002+. Fact is, the boat is already small relatively speaking....every inch counts.... If I remember correctly, they pushed it at almost 20% or something, that is significant. Being in both, it felt significant to me..... Tom also mentioned the straight transom, which is also nice. I say that without knowing what your extra cost is really going to be(I am assuming a few thousand, which I would be happy to pay), so take that with a grain of salt. In the end, having one is better than not....so get what you feel like is a great value and enjoy it.

I personally dont think it's worth it. I spend a lot of time in both. The larger interior room in the 02+ is negligable IMO, I dont even notice it at all. The thing that is nice abouth the larger gunnels is that you can actually stand on them to get boards in/out of the racks, move to the back of the boat, etc. Not sure if you've been in both, but you should probably at least sit in both of them and see if you notice that big of a difference. Both models are great and the wake is the same so you can't go wrong. Great choice, good luck in your search!

Spend extra money on an older one with the Python. Both gunwhale configurations have their advantages/disadvantages, which have pretty much already been mentioned. Get the big block, you won't regret it.

Actually, the one thing I wouldn't want is the Python. Doesn't it give you a big bump on the sun pad?

The GT-40 is a great towboat powerplant in my opinion. Can't comment on Super Sport's and Air's, I have only been in a Sport.

I have never heard anything bad, nor had any issues with the the Chevy PCM(330HP Excalibur). They started phasing out the GT40in 2002 I believe. "Think" you can find some GT40's in some 03's.

is that an 02 or an 03 in your pic? it looks like 03. That exact boat is my dream boat. It would match my 86 2001. Hopefully in the next year or so i can find me one

I will throw a +1 for E.J.'s 03, you wont hear crazy loud music just a bunch of people and family having one heck of a time! The pictures don't do this 2003 justice... Spend the extra money, not on a python but a 2002 and newer and a good prop! Here is a 02 that I ride behind and I will say the flat back is 100% better. Good luck on you choice and post up when you have got it!

they also lowered the floor in the 02-06 ones, which I noticed sitting in both an 00 and 03, the bonus of the better ballast system (pump wise and the belly tank) in the later ones is nice too,

when ive done my searches some 02's have the third tank and some dont. Was it an option, cus for 03 i thought it was standard. And is it possible to plumb in more ballast hidden up front and run it of the same front tank?

If it comes from cold weather, make sure they didn't mess up the fresh water strainer. It is this stupid little thing between where water comes in and the impeller housing... it isn't on most boats so sometimes it is forgotten in draining the block.... if it cracks just a little (it is plastic so it isn't hard for it to do so) then you won't get a good seal and water will only cool the engine in you're hauling ass. Ours had the issue when we bought it.... since it was sup on the test drive day we were only out for like 10 min and couldn't see it would over heat since would did about 5/6 min of that going fast... We got it home, would idle or fill ballast and the temp would skyrocket.... then we would go fast and it would drop. All we did was just take it off... our lake is deep and we don't really worry about getting sand and there so it is fine without. Just an FYI
