Any of you guys have some tricks that you just cant get? I don't mean the next, more advanced thing you're working on. I'm talking about one have skipped or learned but never dialed in, that still gets you.

Mine would be the indy ts backroll. I can do a pete rose more consistently than a ts backroll. Another one that I finally fixed this year was a ts 3. I used to do them, then a few summers ago when I learned off 5's I never did them, and after that all I could do was the 5. Now a method toe 3 is one of my fav tricks. Im bound and determined to get the stupid ts backroll down too.

I'm the same as Shane. I used to throw hs backrolls, then when I learned to throw them to revert, I lost the ability to land them regular. It's been 4 years!!

ts indy bs 180 (I don't think I will ever be able land these consistently)

frontroll (I can do scarecrows, but always come up short on a straight front roll)

Hah. It's funny reading some of these. I have a friend that had every basic invert dialed except the hs backroll. He could actually do them - thing is he wouldnt even make it halfway across the wake. I dont know if to this day he ever figured it out.

HS backroll...just can't figure out to get the pop.

HS Front roll...ever since I learned the tantrum I can't throw a proper front roll. I do Fantrums.

Mine is BS anything and the HS Front Flip. My brain just doesn't comprehend BS and the Front has already broken one ankle, although I think I'm trying it again tomorrow. We shall see.

HS Backroll here...I watch the Book repeatedly, watch my friends repeatedly, go over it in my mind successfully hundreds of times...and then eat it (repeatedly). I'm about to give it the ol' 'none of the pros throw this anyway, why do I need to learn it :-)'

For my son it's a backroll to revert, he can do roll to blind's & a KGB but can't do a roll to rev. go figure.

untill very recently, i could not do a toeside wake to wake, i could do scarecrows out into the flats, and toeside backrolls but never just a normal wake to wake until about last week

tantrum!!!! I had it three summers ago, hurt my knee and now it's not even close anymore. The other trick that is kicking my ass is any grabbed backroll. I can take the backroll big and spot the landing early but when I try to grab it all goes to crap.
Old     (wakedad33)      Join Date: Oct 2005       05-15-2007, 6:53 PM Reply
Mike, try grabing it early right off the wake, while your body is still compact so your not reaching for it and chasing it.

Haha, TS W2W!! sounds pathetic but I can't get it without a 180 in there.

trevor, thats how I started going w2w ts
Old     (focker)      Join Date: Aug 2006       05-16-2007, 8:21 AM Reply
mike - I had the same problem for the longest time with the hs backroll. Everytime I attempted the grab, I would miss and feel like I was going to get pulled to revert - making it halfway and catching a toeside edge of death. If you grab right off the wake, it actually is a very fluid rotation and sets you up for a perfect landing on your hs edge. Only if you miss the grab will you feel it pull towards revert.

edit - this post was referring to front hand grabs only. IE nose, method, slob

hs rolls to revert... never have put one down, but I see it all the way around and it just doesnt stick..., t/s 3s are tough to get wicked consistent, and tantrums seem impossible to me...
Old     (blind)      Join Date: Jun 2006       05-25-2007, 5:07 PM Reply
duane, make sure you get a solid trip at the top of the wake and the tantrum will do itself!
Old     (hawk22)      Join Date: Jul 2006       05-25-2007, 5:22 PM Reply
hs 3 for me. About 3 years ago I did the whole wrap handle approach and nailed it for a summer. Since then, I have not been able to land another one. I don't even try the handle wrap anymore, but the regular 3...i can get around but can't seem to pass the handle...

...I just skipped everything and went to the backroll, inverts are always more fun! I need people to ride with tho because the people I ride with think I'm the King going w2w.

shane I can get it around, I just dont think my flipping axis is right... I think I gotta work on my approach and trip edge more... sometimes I land on the board and the rope just gets yanked out... maybe seeing it on video will help try to correct some things

I have all the base inverts but a TS back roll! I have a problem trowing my head back or something. It took me a while to even try a tantrum but nailed it on my first attempt. I have attempted like 3 or 4 TS back rolls but always bail out half way through! Also my R to R is only fifty persent bacuse I dont always pull all the way around and slide out on my heels to my butt. Anyone have any advice on that one?

Raley, I keep lookin down, I can get full extention and I hold it all the way to the glassy concrete Blew my knee once, saw the stars once and don't remember getting back in the boat once, so I gave up on it. Havn't been out for awile so if I get the bugs out and try one again I'll let you all know what went wrong this time

I think it's ridiculous that I can land 720s and I can't spin off-axis to save my life. Very frustrating.

Tantrum for sure. I bet I could learn 10 different inverts before ever getting that one consistent. I HATE that trick!

I stick 5's like nothing, but 3's at all... It drives me nuts

Crowmobes too, I flip it, spin it, land it, and the handle pops everytime
Old     (eubanks01)      Join Date: Jun 2001       05-29-2007, 12:15 PM Reply
Gene - Really think about getting that handle to your back pocket on those HS R2R's. I also try to stick my chest out on the landing which really helps you to stay on your toes.

When do you pull it to revert? I keep both hands on the handle until I see my landing but I'm pulling more with my rear handle the entire rotation. I think waiting too late to turn it to revert can cause you to slip out as well.
Old     (gene3x)      Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: Dallas , TX       05-29-2007, 3:36 PM Reply
I usually pull straight off the wake but I feel like if I pull to hard I rotate to fast and slip out on my butt! I have to try & float it around to land the R to R. Every once in awhile I will come up short from trying to float it and catch an edge like never before.

Gene, I have the same problem on regular roll 2 verts. I just learned how to do switch r2r (half cab roll), and for some reason dont have the problem. Oh well, guess shaun marray was right in detention. They are easier switch.
Old     (gene3x)      Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: Dallas , TX       05-29-2007, 4:27 PM Reply
I can do the half cab roll much easier also.
Go figure.
