looking at a 05 mc x30 w/71hrs he is asking $49k obo and I've been reading some of the past discussions on the x30s and now I'm having doubts.I'm not that great at wakeboarding yet, but I want to have a decent wake to get better on. some have been saying wake is to wide and mellow. Also have heard about problems turning and not having any tracking fins.I know that this is a big boat ,but is it worth sacrificing for room. Also wondering what price I should be shooting for? any advice appreciated

I have a '02 X30 and absolutely love it. Make sure the '05 you are looking for has the new '06 rudder - makes turning 100% better. Also, you will want to put more wieght in the boat rather than the 2 - 175lb tanks in the rear and 250 lb bag in the front. Lastly, what engine does the boat have in it? I would not even look at it if it has the 310 RTP engine. This boat needs, at a minimum, the MCX 350hp engine - even that will be alittle underpowered if you add additional wieght. I have about 2,000 lbs of ballast but my boat has the L-18 bib block with 450hp.

I agree with Tom. We have a 02' x-30 and love it. Lots of room. We have the 330hp engine and are close on enough power. Could not run with any less power.

Oh. Great surf wake.

If you are buying the boat from a dealer, have them throw the '06 rudder in as part of the deal. The cost of the rudder itself is around $250. It takes about :30 minutes to install. I did mine myself. There is alot of info on the installation process over on the MasterCraft Owners site (www.tmcowners.com) or on the Charlotte NC MC site (www.mymastercraft.com). If you have to buy the rudder from a dealer, buy it from the Charlotte MC dealer. Ask for Mike McKenzie - great guy and probably the most informative person on MC boats I have ever met.

Regarding a sell price for the '05 - I think high $40Ks is good. You mentioned he is asked $49K or best offer. Offer him $45K and see what he says. You'll probably end of somewhere in the $47K-$48K range.
