Im looking into buying an 04 23 LSV with a 383 hammerhead in it, I've heard some conflicting stories on this model verses the newer models? Thoughts anyone?

The model of boat or engine? I assume you are talking about the Hammerhead to which I won't be of much help. You can also try www.themalibucrew.com for your question.

I have a 2004 23LSV. This is the first year of the new 23LSV hull, and it is still the same hull used in the 2007's. However, the rear ballast tanks are not under the floor. Otherwise, very few changes. I looked at one with the 383, but I found a great deal on one with the 340 Monsoon. I have been very happy with the Monsoon. I run the full MLS ballast, but I replaced the rear tanks with 750 pound sacs, so I have a total of about 2250 pounds of water ballast, plus 400 pounds of lead, plus the wedge. It still pulls me up great, and this is with the stock prop. Some folks have re-propped to an ACME 1235, and like it even better. I never got to test-drive the 383, but I am sure it is even better. I think there were problems with some of the earlier Hammerheads, but I believe by 2004 that issue was worked out.

Deanna I think sam is referencing the V25 wake hull. The hh in the 2004 is a 380 hp and around the same torque. It is a good motor, but I believe the monsoon has less hp but a little more torque than that motor. Either way if it's a good deal go for it.
