I have a Wake Designs Rat Cage Tower I mounted several years ago on my 97 Wellcraft Eclipse 2150. The tower has never been as sturdy as I would have liked it to and its getting worse and starting to crack my gelcoat at the mounts. Does anyone know a good way to stiffin up the tower and stop it from wobbling from side to side?

You have to weld diagonal bracing to give it more of a truss design if you want to stiffen it.

fab up some braces that mount to the front or rear legs and bolt them to the boat... i did on my last boat and it turned out pretty good and made it way more sturdy!

hey here is a pic for you! notice the brace right by the drivers elbow, i ran it about the same angle of the windshield o the rear legs of the tower.. didnt look to bad and that tower was a woobbbllyyy pos imo.. i dont think cross braces will do anything for you..

I agree cross braces would defeat the whole purpose of a tower: to allow open space underneath, and for lofty airs of course. It looks like you brought the supports towards the middle of the boat to help the side to side motion. One question, how did you attach it to the tower: welded of bolted? I would not want to weld aluminum for my first time on one of my most prized possessions. Nice photoshop by the way. Thanks for the help
