Kevin & Ben of Capital Watersports just got in their new Tige RZ2 and brought it down to the Delta Wakeboard Camp for a test drive. We had a few riders try it out with about 1000 lbs. of ballast and it was pretty good. Then we loaded it down with an additional 1000 lbs. of lead an it was great. I really like the way the TAPS system works to change the shape on the wake. Each rider liked the settings to be differant and we were able to accomidate them.

We then had the riders surf the wake and again it was pretty immpressive(the swim platform needs to be midified because it causes a weird bubble in the wake).

We are very picky since we have a Malibu VLX & LSV. We are not easily immpressed. But, this was a very versitile boat and will probaly be TIge's flagship for years to come. We want to thank Capital for letting us check it out.

The boat sound's cool, Tige is having a "VIP"? party/camp out in mid sep, I'll try to get pic's of the RZ2 out there, along with all the hotties that hopefully will be there.

First I would like to thank Tom Conway for having us out to Delta Wakeboard Camp, we were very impressed with the facilities and the always glassy Stockton Delta slews. This was our maiden voyage with the 2007 Tige RZ-2 and we had high hopes that fortunately were met with straight A's across the board. For a spur of the moment test we were well equipped with great water, and a killer line up of Northern California top riders including Kevin Bird, Matt Norton, Tanner Sheldon, and the lovable Tim Parsons our local Inland Surfer, and Body Glove rep. Also thanks to Dylan Farkas the owner of Hot H2O Everything Wake for layin down a little Chaupoo surf style behind the boat. Everyone was impressed with the overall fit and finish, wholeshot, ride, and of course the wake. The wakeboarding pictures you see are the first set with only 1000lbs of water weight. The surfing set has the additional 1000lbs. of lead. Tige's new for 2006 Speedset throttle by wire cruise control system made driving effortless whether it be holding through turns or double ups, smooth accurate speed control with no surging at the flip of a switch. Even after weighting out the boat with 2000lbs, the wholeshot was unmatched in any other 5.7, we figured we could easily put a few thousand more pounds in before seeing any hanlding sacrafice.

I was the first person to take a set and the only skater of the day. My first w2w was met with boosty pop that threw me up and over the other side of the wake. The taps was set at 7-8 which is the most aggressive setting for wakeboard mode. After leaving the wake the board was stuck to my feet, it was a very solid wake that is unlike the other pickleforks on the market in that it is steeper rather than overly gradual or long. I loved the wake, I think it's the best Tige has, but i'll leave the rest of the review to Kevin, Matt, Tanner and Tim.
The boat itself ran beautifully straight off the factory line, this was the first time this boat saw water and that says alot. It was also a completely dry ride which is rare with picklefork boats. Tom Conway's Delta Wakeboard Camp put this boat to the test and everyone came back to the dock with a smile on their face and what we feel is a new perspective on Tige Boats. There are many new features in the 2007 Tige line that were not mentioned like one touch ignition, and the 3 digital panels on the dash. I'd like to thank everyone for coming out and helping this boat test go off without a hitch, and also thank Tige's R&D department for making such a sick new boat. (This was a private boat test and Tige Boats Inc. had no involvement)

That wake looks pretty sick for 1000lbs of ballast. What speed and line length?

1000 pounds? or 1000 pounds over stock?????
Old     (bensk8in)      Join Date: Feb 2006       08-31-2006, 3:33 PM Reply
This boat had no ballast, I repeat, this boat came stock just like every Tige we carry with no ballast system. Im not trying to fool anyone, the wakeboard photos have 2 fat buddies, 1 locker sac. The surfing pics have that, plus 1000 in lead.

Damn, nice job fellas. Someone should maybe put those pics of the wake on the boats discussion page.

that wake will be the exact same on the 22ve because the rz and 22ve share the same hull

I dont care what anyone says, the RZ-2 wake is larger, probably because it has more rocker, it's larger, and firmer. Have you ridden it?
Old     (lcky275)      Join Date: Jul 2002       09-07-2006, 8:48 AM Reply
Ben, when you say rocker are you referring to the transition?

Supposedly the RZ-2 has more rocker, lifting in the hull, just like a wakeboard, it slopes up gently in order to displace the hull. I spent the weekend on my customers RZ-2 on Sun and Mon, I can't get enough, I love this wake.

I saw someone say something about being the wrong trailer on another RZ post, not about our boat, it was on an extreme trailer, I didnt see anything wrong with it, all I know is that this is our RZ-2 trailer and this is how everyone in the Sacramento area will look. DHM did say its a tough trailer to make though, but its still just as easy to put on the trailer in one try. 2/3 were perfect.

I remember when the X star came out with the pickle fork and everyone dissed it. Now we have a number of MC's and a Tomcat and RZ with them.

The wake looks nice. That trailer is sick....

That is a great looking boat. You can't make a boat like that on the Tige web site. the 2nd main panel color and accent color must be the same on the web site. This boat has white as the second main panel and black as teh accent. That is a great choice I hope Tige continues with

compare the tige to an xstar. Are they similar wakes. I know they have similar design, but does the tige produce the same wake shape and size as a mastercraft. Is it better, worse, anybody have an opinion?
Old     (tommyc)      Join Date: Nov 2003       09-08-2006, 7:50 AM Reply
It is not the same wake at all. The MC has a very long ramp with a nice lip. The RZ2 has a more traditional shape. I am curious to see what happens when you really load the boat. I am sure it will have enough power, but some boats become slugs when they are loaded.

I did want to say that the Tige's perfect pass was the best I had ever used. All you do is hammer down the throttle and the speed adjusts itself. You dont have to touch the throttle again. The same is true when you go around corners, it doesn't bog down at all. It was so easy for me to drive double ups, because all I had to do was steer the boat and the perfect pass did the rest.

Tom, Are you replacing your Bu?
Old     (tommyc)      Join Date: Nov 2003       09-08-2006, 11:25 AM Reply
I hope not, theres nothing like a Bu. But we are keeping our options open for the right deal to come along. We want to run 3 boats next year and with a new store in Tower Park, the boat builder/dealer will get a lot of exposure.

Pretty new to the board. Is there a Tige dealer near Santa Rosa,CA. I want to see more.

Rancho Cordova is going to be the closest dealer, we are the northern californias largest dealer that covers from the bay to the border north, east and west. I can shoot you some pictures of the boats we have, the boat you see is sold, right now they are hard to get but we have good priority with Tige. Let me know what I can do for you. I should have 1-2 RZ-2's showing up each week now that we are in to the 2007 model year. Call me if you have any questions at 916-308-7693 or email me at bensouders@yahoo.com.

Ben, did that one have the vision air seat? If it did what did you think about it?
Old     (bensk8in)      Join Date: Feb 2006       09-09-2006, 1:52 PM Reply
You know what, I don't believe they have released those into production yet from my understanding, I saw it at the factory and at the photo shoot for the first preview, but both of our boats have been the regular driver seat, the new upholstery is killer and I cant wait for the seat, I think this seat is going to be something that will be copied by other manufacturers for years to come, and there's nothing wrong with progression in my opinion. As soon as I get one, you can expect a write up with pics.
