how hard is it to replace the driveshaft seal on a vdrive? How necessary is it and how often does it need done. looking at one from DIM

you mean replace the packing, or put a dripless shaft seal on?

replacing the packing took me about 15 minutes, and i haven't tightened the nut in a year (i used gore-tex GFO packing, completely dripless).

Installing a dripless shaft seal (like PSS) involves removal of the shaft from the tranny and is a bigger job, but once its done you never have to think about it ever again.

Thanks Tom, where can I get the gortex GFO packing from. Sounds a lot easier doin it that way.
