Was wondering if most of you guys fill your ballast tanks everytime you ride? Or just go and ride, skipping the ballasts?

I fill them all the way, plus a sack if I can find one. I like a bigger wake though, I'm used to it. If its smaller I have problems landing things because I'm so used to a big wake.

I old schooled once and went without ballast. I learned some new stuff and perfected old stuff like method grab, 180s, inverts on double up, and wrapped 3's/

Unless the boat is sinking from fat people, the ballast and sacs are filled.

when we ride, I dont fill them up at all. My centurion elite v drive puts up a good wake, and only fill them up when I'm surfing, or if I want to try a w2w on a tube or wakeskate. but I'm sure once I get into inverts (when I get the courage to) I'll want them full

The crew I ride with has a range of skills and experience. A 2400# wake isn't always the best answer for everyone, so I've started filling and emptying the ballast a couple of times each session, depending on who's up and what they want.

Jeff Do you think that if a person hasn't perfected the progressive edge 100% that he or she won't get bigger as a result of the inceased wake size. Or will they get more air as a direct result of the increase in wake size?

Sure, a bigger wake will get more air, especially for those who don't have good form. But air isn't the issue. We have people just learning to edge through the wake, or to ride switch, or to transition from a slalom ski to a board, or to hit the wake without bending their knees (actually, I'm one of the guys with that bad habit). Those who are experienced like big wakes, but for others a wake higher than your knees can be intimidating. Plus, the crashes are fewer and less painful for learners with a smaller wake, so the stoke level stays high.

"I like a bigger wake though, I'm used to it. If its smaller I have problems landing things because I'm so used to a big wake." not to call anyone out or criticize, but if you cant do your tricks without a loaded wake then I think you should step back to basics. Inverts 3s and even 5s should be able to be done with a stock wake. I rode with Collin Wright a few years ago and he just slapped on a board and rode behind a sport naughti with no ballast and a high pole, he did 3s, 5s, rolls, and switch 3s and popped higher than Ive ever seen anyone pop in person on a modded wake so.... just food for thought, get your edge down pat and then step it up
