I'm in for sure if i can round up a dry suit or borrow someones... I get out of school at 11:30 and have a meeting at 4 but i think i might just have to skip it if were going out.. so basically any time works for me.. What lake are you thinking of going to again?

I'll hook you up with a dry suit, Mark.

We're goin to Lake Owasso in Roseville. You can get picked up at the boat launch. Park at the park next door. Just call Don at the number above. The launch is 1/4 mile down North Owasso Boulevard from Rice Street. Ya can't miss it.

Eder, thanks for the offer on the boat. We will see if it is needed first. I hate to take it out after having it all tore up :-) Call me and we can get the specifics figured out. I am pretty excited to get this going :-)

Don - I called the storage, boat is coming out tomorrow and I am picking it up late in the afternoon, by 7 I believe. So I think I'ma head over as planned on Wednesday morning. Hopefully we wont need to take 'er out since it will be torn apart, but if we need to, she's got a full tank of gas (Which I got for $1.65 end of last season, haha!) I am stoked to get everything up and running man, its gonna be fun! You get lunch and a free woofer and of course...my presence! Until then homie!

Here is how it looks to be shaping up. This is the list of confirmed with times. Help me update this list as you know if you can make it out. I would like to have a final list and times figured out tomorrow evening so I can plan to start my boat wednesday morning and run the bugs out so it will be primed for the water. The same might have to happen for Eder's boat if we need to take it out too so let us know as soon as possible :-)

Don
Eder
Mike after 6 (not posted, but my driver)
Aaron after 1
Mark W after 12
Chad after 4

I'll likely be around all day, so I might show up too if I am invited (I may not ride though, I took a slapshot right in the back of my ankle yesterday playing hockey - limping a good deal now ...wait, )
Old     (amark)      Join Date: Nov 2008       04-06-2009, 8:38 PM Reply
tuneman; That would be awesome if i could use your dry suit dude thanks! Cant wait to ride on Wed, the weather looks like it should be in the 50's so depending on the water temp we might be close to the 100 degree rule but if not who cares! This will def. be the earliest ive ever been out. Cant wait, i put on my board and life jacket today and was hopping around my room getting the set-up just right.

This will be the earliest spring run for me. My current record is April 14th.

I'm getting pumped! My earliest out in the midwest was April 1st a couple years ago, 2006 I think. By the way, where is this going down by the way, I'm still kind of new to the area.

lake owasso. From 694 and rice st, exit rice st and go south. 1 block south of 694 is north owasso blvd turn right. 2 blocks down on the left side is a beach area, park there and call me if we are not right there. :-)

I think everything is about sized up, I say we shoot for 3ish. That will give enough time to get some things done with Eder and get the boat figured out. Does that work for everybody? Aron, Mark, that doesnt get too late for you guys does it?

Looks like the winds will be from the NW at 15 mph. So, we'll probably have to hang out in Daren's neighborhood.

Daren, did you clear your schedule?

Ick. Owasso is not a kind north wind lake :-( Nothing is killing my day out though. Tomorrow. We ride.

i think Owasso is pretty good with a NW wind. I just got off it an hour ago (set #2 for the year) and the winds were WNW and it was butter. although tonight was super cold!

It was awesome! Just a little cold...ok really cold, I couldn't man up for a second set, but big props to those who did! Thanks again Don for letting us get an early season pull, and Eder for letting me use the drysuit, which was a life saver. I'm definitely excited for the season, and the water is only getting warmer from this point on.

I instantly regretted getting in the water and pushing off your boat Don! hahaha. Sounds like you guys had a good session! Did you get a water temp? I would say upper 30's...? brrrrrrrrr

water temp on Owasso is about 42-44 depending on location

Nick, at least you got to go to the car and put the heat on your feet :-) Thanks for the push :-)

The shower I installed last year was so worth it. It certianly helped out the feet and hands at the end. I am pretty sore this morning, but it will be worse tomorrow I am sure.

It was awesome to meet you new guys and as always, great to hang with you old guys too :-) It was a great day and a great start to the season.

Yeah Don thanks again for the pull man!! it was great to get back out on the water no matter how cold it was.. I got home and was actually regretting not taking a second set, probably cause the feeling in my feet and hands came back haha. Thanks again Chad for letting me use the dry suit, gotta love those things, if i had the extra cash lying around i would pick one up in a heartbeat. At least the water can only get warmer from here on right. And that shower is probably the greatest thing ever!! haha

Us suburban dads were watching the whole show from our warm house...watching the kids, otherwise would have been out there in a heartbeat...looked like a ton of fun, nomatter how cold it was! I gotta break in my drysuit SOON!!

I have about 100 into my shower. That is 70 for a nice self priming pump, valves, hoses, clamps and shower head. It was definately the best ever yesterday.

I got 95% of the boat finished...all I got left is mounting the board racks, adding 2 more batteries, and wiring up a Perko switch. The Pro 80's are stupid loud. I walked down the street a couple blocks and could hear every word crystal clear with the volume no where near full. I can't wait to drop her in the water.

Thanks guys.

The best investment was the Wet Sounds WS 420. It is amazing how much control you have...I spent waaaaay more than I thought I was going to on this project, but I am very pleased how everything turned out.

Chad, I'm good on sacs, I'll buy a Tsunami pump or 2, when I get my tax returns back.

Corey, I bought the boat last April from a mechanic in Chicago. I've never seen another Tristar around, other than John's and the one I bought. There was one that looked similar on craigslist last spring, but the guy wouldn't budge on his 12.5k price.

I gotta get my dock in now...

oh, and in response to jack's post above,

Ryan Andrus moved to halfmoon bay, california. is engaged, and rumor has it makes award winning goat cheese. we rode together in california about 4 years ago but i dont know if he's ridden since.

Chris Thomas is a helicopter pilot and is instructing in titusville, florida. doesn't ride much anymore.

Ryan Keifer took too many falls and his vision never fully recovered from blind judge crash back in 99/00. he doesnt ride much but still lives life to the fullest.

The muellers still own mn inboard, matt and robbie still ride.

the mertes brothers still ride--joe is a really good snowboarder and has gotten some play in transworld lately. i don't know what nick is doin.

brent anderson is working with steve wickner as a snowboard rep, we rode together quite a bit the year before last. he still rode more than anyone i know down on prior, and kyle still rides too.

Don, I was talking about John Brine at Midwest Mastercraft. He has a Tristar with an MT1 on it as well. My goal for the project was to make my boat look as close as possible to his.

I think Eder mentioned something about the Schroder's the other day when we were at Owasso. I was talking about a red and white LSV loaded with people throwing down right after the PWT on Owasso last summer. I think it might have been them....not sure though. Who ever it was, they were going HUUUUUGE!!!!

I just talked to Jason about it and he is hoping to have them loaded tonight or tomorrow morning. He does want a second chance with you Chad. He was having a hard time focusing because of you being low and the spray off of the boat. We will see what he got but he has some ideas how to get around that and would like to try again if you are interested in getting some good quality pics of youself riding :-)

Jay, isn't White Bear scary LOW!?!? I'm glad I live on Bald Eagle. Looks like you had some nice water though...

I took the boat out for a quick spin tonight to make sure everything is running smooth. A fisherman told me it was 50 degrees already in the shallow bays and low to mid 40's in the open water. Sure beats the ice we had last year in mid April!
