This year's PowerBoat Magazine Boat of the Year award was granted to Malibu Boats for the new 2007 Wakesetter VTX.

Think this is like 6th year in a row for Malibu.
(sorry if this is a re-post, I didn't see it?)

Congratulations award that is well deserved. Quality boats, quality people.

what other boats were considered? This seems like a default Malibu award every year.

Someone needs to call a whaambulance for Stevo.

Stevo, No other boats were considered because Malibu is the only towboat manufacturer that advertises in Powerboat magazine.

Just kidding, I don't have a clue. I know that VTX boat looks like a super rig though. If I had the cash to buy new, that would definitely be one of the top choices on my list.

Any magazine "shootout" should be taken with a grain or two of salt. Flip through the rest of the mag, and see who has the most ads. 9/10 times, they're the "winner".

My lease mate will have a VTX in a week, can't wait to see it out on the water. Now we have an VLX, 247, VTX and XTI, I think we have the bases covered.

Where we wakeboard on the weekend, we have a yearly lease that we stay at.

The boat is great. Malibu does a great job. The award is a joke. At least the JD Power award is reasonably subjective. Powerboat grants the award to Malibu every year.

all these awards are jokes.

The boat of the year for power boat is a joke!! Malibu only uses for marketing. No other tow/wakeboard boats are tested in the review, only Malibu. If Malibu is so great, then why has MasterCraft received the boat of the year from wakeworld 4 years in a row. Just think about it.

because there are a lot of rabid mastercraft owners on wakeworld

Why is the official boat of wakeworld a malibu?
Old     (rallyart)      Join Date: Nov 2006       04-28-2007, 10:39 PM Reply
You could look at PowerBoat and see they also have tested a number of Skiers Choice products, too.
However you always have to check how the marketing dollars are spent. Mastercraft pulls lots of events but Gekko has been 'the Official Boat' at international events. Now I don't think that makes them the same but it's probably right to congratulate the guys that succeed in their marketing.
It is one of the ways we feel good about our purchase decisions.

Master Craft X-Star boat of the year for wakeworld. Master Craft ran an ad in Alliance and Wakeboarding Magazine. Its all about ads and making money people we should all know that.

Yea, but the offical boat of wakeworld is a Malibu VLX. That should be written at the bottom of that Master Craft ad.

I know Master Craft places ads in Powerboat Magazine as well. I think they are in the back under boats for sale. LOL. JK.

As long as it is a wakeboat and it is in your garage and not your neighbors it is boat of the year. Who cares about stuffy magazines or companies awarding titles. These guys probably never wakeboarded a day in their life anyway! Just get on the water with whatever boat gives you a stiffie and just wake on !!!

MasterCraft the MFG does'nt advertise on WakeWorld at all, but has won the WW award 4 years in a row.
That is because its real people (boarders) who are voting.

Billy, I was only trying to say that these awards are ALL a joke, but just because one is made fun of they all should be.

My example was that Master Craft placed an ad in Alliance and Wakeboard magazine stating the fact they they were awarded again for the 4th year in a row the boat of the year on Wakeworld. Yet the Wakeworld offical boat is a Malibu VLX.

I am sure real boarders voted for the X-Star and I am also guessing that a lot of them have never been on an X-Star or behind one. It is all about Hipe, advertisement and what is popular at the time. It is all Cheesy to me.

Brannon beat me to it....

I would guess at least half of the people who vote for the awards on this site have never used the product. Then take the people who have used the product, but have not compared it to the product it is being judged against.....

That is not to say the awards do not have merit, but I don't think they have any more merit than any other awards....

Like I say with winning at anything....it is better than coming in second.

Brannon, my statement wasnt directed towards what you said, it was just what my little brain was thinking on the award thing.
I still think a riders vote whether or not they have rode behind an XStar or not, still has more validity than the vote of some guy in the office of a boating magazine that still wears one of those orange life jackets around his neck and pants pulled way up, and never has rode in his life.

BTW I do know a Malibu dealer that wears his pants so high he gets deodorant on his belt.

Better get some sort of rock guard on that truck or you'll pepper your beautiful new black boat with rocks. I'm speaking from experience.
