I just bought a new VLX last week. I went to Alfa Insurance, which I have everything else through. They quoted me $100 per month with a $1000 deductable. Alfa also said they would only insure up to $60,000, which I barely fit into. Is this quote way too high?

Way to high. I only pay 560 per year through Ski Safe.

Alfa Insurance is way to expensive!

I pay $571.00 a year with a $500 deductible. My insurance company is: Boater's Insurance Agency, phone# 1-800-344-7488.

Second Boater's Insurance Agency, thats who my dealer recomended and seem to be competive price. Mine is insured for 56k 560 deductible on boat and 250 personal property deductible for 536 a year.

WAY TOO HIGH

570 per year (would have been cheaper, but i have a lead foot) 500 or 1000 deductable. best part is, if my boat is totaled or stolen, i get a brand new boat!!!

progressive insurance.

i found cheaper, but this policy seemed to be the best value.

I second progressive. I think mine was right around CR's range too. I know it was less than $600. Who is your Car through, they should give you a multi-policy discount.

You can't beat getting a new boat if it's stolen or totaled. Not everyone does that as they will only insure what the boat is worth. I think it's called GAP insurance.

I'm w/ State Farm... on a $60,000 policy, w/ a $500 deductible, it's $520 for the year. I'd list my limits, but I went blank. I have them pretty high up there. But I do have a multi-line discount.

You may check if there is a discount for paying 6 months or the whole year up front.

I payed $480 per annum with progressive but at a lesser amount $45,000k with the total replacement feature for the first 5 years. I actually have all my homes and vehicles with another company so this isn't using a multi-line discount. This is also with a disappearing deductable

I use Progressive as well for 400 a year on a 50k replacement a year. I did my research and that is the best at least here in socal..

Is it worth taking any limits out for personal bodily harm or injuries? It just seem like your medical insurance would cover that.

I have Progressive also. Just paid my new premium. $480.00 yr for $51,000 with disappearing deductable.

David,

For me... I'm more worried about getting sued in case anything happens. That's why I have pretty high limits for the bodily harm, etc. Your medical insurance won't cover others.

State Farm, doesn't pay you what it's worth in a few years... they cut you a check for what your premium is. So say in 5 years if your boat is only worth 35 and your boat is totalled but your policy is $60K... they cut you a check for $60, not the $35.

Progressive offers 2 different polciies so be careful: They offer agreed value with the disappearing deductible and full replacement cost on boats less than 5 yrs old. They also offer a Actual Cash Value policy on any year boat aloso with disappearing deductible for loss free renewals of 3 years or more.

High limits are a must: Especially the unindured boater. This is self insurance dont cheap out.

Just got rid of ski safe and went back to State Farm. Ski safe can't even compete with the similar limits I got from state farm.

under $400 with Progressive. Don't remember the exact details but insured for a cash value, not a replacement of the boat. $31k or something
