I ride at average ability. I am looking for the loosest board available (not the Roam). Due to my age and injuries I will not be doing any inverts but would like to become an accomplished surface rider. Presently, I ride an '03 Belmont with the center fins removed. I also own a 133 Fish which I ride with factory fins. I also have a Temet which I ride totally finless. I just purchased an '06 Absolute Platinum which I ride finless. I am disappointed that the Absolute still is not loose enough. The reviews I've read indicate that the Transcend is very loose in the neutral position, but grips really well when on edge. Can anyone help me choose a board that is VERY loose while riding neutral, but has good hold when on edge for charging the wake. Someone suggested the O'Brien Natural. I have a Roam on order but I want an everyday board that is very loose but locks down well on edge. How about the Valhalla? Thanks in advance. Please respond on this site. I am using someone's computer.

A finless Marius is pretty damn loose. Also, a finless Transcend (pre 2007). Definitely a lot looser than an Absolute

If you can find one, a 2003-2004 Double Up Nelson is pretty loose. You can spin surface 3's with little effort.

So you have 4 boards right now, and one on order? And you are now looking for a 6th? Am I following you so far?

My Motive 134 is very loose wrt surface spins. I have the center fin removed and the molded fins allow the board to slide very easily. Here's a short video of it. At about 1:35, 1:43, and 2:05 on the timeline you can see that I surface spin the board. I used to ride a Premiere w/o center fin and it didn't slide as easily. Also you can see the center finless Motive locks in an edge just fine as I have no problem launching air rolls with it. http://www.wakepics.com/view_single.php/Cable-Stuff_wakeboarding-photos.html?medid=15662

Gotta agree with John (as usual) I love the loose feeling of the Motive. I ride mine with the 1' fins but I've ridden it with none and the board was ultra slick on the water.

Barbara - give the O'Brien Vice 131 a try - it's pretty loose even with the Crook fins - but take them off and it is super mellow and buttery...way looser than the Natural! (Message edited by team_o on July 31, 2006)

I don't understand why not the Roam? You want the loosest right? Then get the Roam and don't worry that its wood. You can still edge and do tricks. Just look for a board with no bottom features and take off any fins. Like a Park with no fins, or a Transcend with no fins. Not how they were designed but will be more loose than a molded fin board like the Absolute (anyone could have told you that).

Hey J-Rod thanx, That was last year after they put up the Curve Rail Funbox (They call it Nessie). That's why there were so many shots of me hitting it. I've slowed down a quite a bit this year. Got married and started learning to play guitar, so my wakeboarding has suffered. It's like riding a bicycle though. Doing all the same stuff, just not adding anything new. Went to the park yesterday but didn't get to ride. A rope got tangled in the motor tower right as I was driving up and broke the speed sensor. Hopefully it's fixed now.

The Liquid Force Litmus is a loose board. With or without the center fin. Of course much looser without. (Message edited by jayp on July 31, 2006)

Yeah dude you will love your roam if loose is what you want. I have had mine for like a month now and absolutely love it! I can do surface 360's so easily its rediculous, but you can also throw it on edge and really get some great pop for aerial tricks.

I agree with j-rod, the marius is really loose with no fins. Get a roam. They're super loose, and plus they make you a better rider, as far as edging technique.

If you already have a Belmont switching to a Motive wouldn't make much of a difference. I'm not sure which year models are the same, but the Motive is pretty much made from the old Belmont mold. Perhaps the fin configurations are different, but the board shape is pretty much the same.

LF Search/Finless. It's hella loose w/no fins, but EXTREMELY fun for surface tricks. It's an older board, so you would have to find a used 1. http://www.wakeworld.com/boardguide/getboard3.asp?ProductID=1393

I ride an ’03 Shapiro. I think O’Brien is calling it the edge currently. Three removable fins nose and tail and no molded fins. You can make that board as loose as you want it to be. But I just got a ’05 roam for $99 on eBay and that board is wicked fun. Talk about bang for the buck!! I bought it from Grizzly sports…really great company. I live close to them but I had the board in hand 2 days after I paid for it so I have to give them props here. If you snowboard at all, riding the roam will be way fun and cake to get the hang of.
