Okay, I've contacted 2 dealers and a fiberglass shop & the only tower that they will sell me & install is a Monster Tower. Why is that? I like the looks of so many other towers better. I know they are one of the stronger towers, but IMO they're kinda ugly on my boat.
Probably because the Monstertower is solid and they get very few complains/refund requests from customers. I installed a monster tower on my Bayliner in about 5 hours and it was very solid! Even on a flimsy bayliner! Oh yeah, you get a free calendar with every purchase
I put a black monster tower on my boat last summer. Love it. Great customer service and pretty good instructions. I also love the way I can p ut it up/down in about 30 seconds. Took me about 6 hours to install, but only because I waited about 1 hour before actually drilling into my hull. Once I figure it out, it went pretty easy.
You can go to www.monstertower.com customer photos under VIP and see my boat. There are probably several like yours there.
Because its the only selling agreement that shop has with a tower company. I mean if they aren't a dealer for anything why else would they install a competitors tower for you? You just gotta find the folks with the gear you want.
The last thing I can think of is that you have a weird boat that not a lot of tower mfgs have specs for. Odds are good that if you don't get a Monster you will have to go with a custom job and that is where the $ starts going up. Not all towers are universal like the Monster so basically the dealer is telling you, to make it easier on everyone involved and get the one thing that is guaranteed to fit on anything!
